Ghosts: Mylings

Created in Imagin AI

In Scandinavian Folklore, there are spirits called Mylings. These ghosts are of children who were killed by their parents. They're killed in infancy before they can be baptized. Because these unwanted children were not baptized they are left to roam restlessly. They appear as children with dead and ghastly appearances.

They usually haunt the area where their parents or mother hid their bodies. They are often mischievous. they will transform into animals that humans capture and then trick humans into and change back into a child running away laughing. Sometimes the children would be hidden near their mother's home. Likely under the floor, dirt cellar, or in nearby woods. Mylings can be heard singing in the dark trying to reveal their death.

Many tales tell of Mylingar wanting revenge and/or trying to kill their mother by sucking milk from the mother's breast and don't stop until it has sucked out all the blood from the woman's body. Mylingar are mischievous children spirits that like to play pranks on people. They could transform into animals that humans capture but then transform back into a child and run away laughing.

One simple way to give a Myling rest is simply by giving it a name. Many of them were likely newborns and were never given a name. Giving them a name will help them feel at peace.

They have to try to convince someone to bury them in hallow grounds. The Myling will jump on the back of the person and hope for help. This person will carry the Myling to a cemetery, but sometimes it's difficult for the benefactor to do so. The Myling sometimes gets heavier and heavier even causing their benefactor to sink into the ground or suck the life from the benefactor making them weak. If the person is not able to bury them they kill that person in rage.

Sometimes Mylings will want revenge instead. They will do this by trying to kill their mother. They will suck the milk from their mother's breast and don't stop until they suck all the blood from her.

The Norwegian Golf Hole Pooper

In 2005 the Stavanger Golf Club in Stavanger, Norway started getting terrorized by a pooper. They would aim for the holes and poop inside and makes sure to wipe with toilet paper. This continued on for 10 years and maybe longer (couldn't find any more recent articles). They never came on weekends and would only leave a present on weekdays. It's unknown what the gender of the perpetrator is, but with how massive the poops are it's assumed they may be a man.

It's unknownn why this mad pooper has decided to terrorize this golf course. Its found that they come and go on a bike the same way. At one point the gold course tried to prevent this disgusting vandal and they tried catching or detouring the culprit by installing high-powered lights. How ever the pooper climbed up a tree next to the lights, wringgled far out on a branch and dismantled the lights without falling ot electrocuting themselves.

The Bleivik Man

In 1952 a bog body now known as the Bleivik Man (Bleivik funnet) was found in a bog in Rogaland, Norway about 6 km (3.7 Miles)north of Haugesund. It was discovered by a farmer in a drainage ditch that was around 70 cm (about 2.2 ft). His well-preserved skull, a thigh bone, and an upper arm bone, a later excavation brought out other bones like a rib, two vertebrae, and fragments of another thigh bone.

It's believed that the man lived and died between 6110 and 5890 BC (mesolithic). It's believed to have been a man between 55 to 60-years-old. From his long bones, it was estimated that he was 160 cm (5'2") at most and had a strong physic as indicated by his muscular attachment marks on the bones.

No cause of death could be found, but it's possible that he may have drowned in waters that may have been open at the time. The layer of Earth where he was found showed no disturbances suggesting he was not buried, but naturally was there, but gradually covered in sediment.

There are songs inspired by the Bleivik Man.
