Created in Artbreeder (not accurate)

The Fjorulalli also known as the Shore Laddie, or Beach Walker is a creature seen along the coasts of the Westfjords of Iceland. It is said that locals of the Westfjords will see the Fjorulalli come from the ocean to the shore. It's said that these creatures will breed with sheep resulting in deformed lambs.

The Fjorulalli is the size of a ram and has brownish-grey fur and either webbed feet or hooves. It seems as if mussels and barnacles grow on its fur allowing it to scrape or jingle as it walks. Making it easy for those around to hear it.

Cryptids: Babi Ngepet

Created in Bing Creator

A Babi Ngepet is an Indonesian cryptid similar to a werewolf but with a demon boar. According to legend the creature is believed to be a person practicing pesugihan bab black magic. Which is magic that helps people become rich instantly. In exchange for wealth, something must be sacrificed which is usually their humanity. This allows the person to become a Babi Ngepet where they either transform into a boar or a boar demon possesses them. The boar is described as being larger than the average boar, with a muddy complexion and bloody mouth, sometimes with a human face.

Some of the stories told about a man enveloped in black robes and an assistant. The man in robes would then turn into a Babi Ngepet, He would then roam around the village rubbing his body against walls, doors, cupboards, and furniture. This was to magically carry away with the villager's money, gold, and valuables. If successful they transform back to their human self and the robes filled with the items.

While this is happening the assistant would stay home and guard a lit candle floating in a water basin. If the candle is shaking, fading, or almost out that means the Babi Ngepet is in danger, caught by villagers, or returned to being human.

Because of this belief, Javanese villagers will often kill or chase away any boar near the village at night.

Cryptids: Jackalope and Jackanape

Image created in Bing Image Creator

Jackalope is a well-known fearsome critter. It is described as a jackrabbit with antelope antlers sometimes even a pheasant tail or hind legs. The name "Jackalope" derives from jackrabbit and antelope. There have been similar cryptids in history, but this one is based in America. It's said that the first sighting was in 1829 in Douglas, Wyoming.

Jackalopes are said to be extremely shy unless approached. They can often run fast around 90 miles per hour. It is said that they can imitate almost any sound including human voices. When they use human voice usually it's in phrases such as "There he goes! That way!". It's said that if you leave a flask of alcohol out a Jackalope would drink it and become intoxicated making it easier to hunt.

Jackanapes are the female version and are said to be able to milk while sleeping lying face up. Their milk is said to have medicinal uses. It is said that Jackanapes usually only breed during electrical storms or hail.

It's possible that the first sightings and some of them afterward were rabbits infected with the Shope papillomavirus. Which causes kreatine growths in rabbits typically near its head. It is probably the most common hoax taxidermied animal.

Cryptids: Boroboroton

Boroboroton as depicted in Toriyama Sekien's Hyakki Tsurezure Bukuro

The Boroboroton belongs is a specific kind of Japanese Yokai called Tsukumogami or artifact spirit. These kinds of spirits are from manmade objects either possessed by ghosts or spirits or they form their own spirit from constant use for at least 90 to 100 years. If They form their own spirit they often look brand new or pristine despite their old age.

The Boroboroton is a tattered futon or a Japanese sleeping mat. They come alive at night and will come to life at night especially if it feels ignored or needless. In revenge, they will rise up in the air and kill any sleeping person they make contact with. It will wrap around the head and neck of the sleeper with the intent of strangling them to death.

Sometimes they will meet with other Tsukumogami and throw noisy parties or leave the gome search for other beings.

Cryptid: The Paraná Creature

On October 21, 2015 locals in Carmen del Paraná, Paraguaya found a strange creature floating on the Paraná River. The creature was dead and was nothing seen before. It was small and had wrinkled, frog-like skin and limbs but the hands, tail and face of a primate. Firefighters were called and several photographs were taken of it. However there was never a medical examination on the body so it's unknown what it was.

Some theorize that it was a dead monkey that looked like that because of it decomposing in the water. Some think it's a chupacabra like creature, or maybe a new cryptid.

Cryptids: Drekavac

Created Using Art Breeder

A Drekavac, Yeller, Drek, or Drekalo is a creature in Slavic Mythology (Serbia, and Bosnia). They are a boogeyman creature used to warn children. It is said that the Drekavac comes from Unbaptised children who've died. It usually resides in a graveyard or outside a home crying for salvation. They are usually solitary creatures, but are sometimes found in packs and will live together in a cave or tunnel.

Sometimes A Drekavac will come in different appearances such as an infant with a thin body and large head and animals. If it's in the form of an infant it's said that it's an omen for death and if it's in the form of an animal it's something like cattle disease.

Its scream is horrifying. They are usually asking for a baptism all night bothering the cemetery or the persons in a home. If it's screaming outside of a home at least one person in the home is going to die. The creature may fall on a person or allow its shadow to cross a person cursing them to die soon. Their fur is usually long in animal form and if stepped on it'll yelp in pain.

Sometimes a Drekavac will enter the dreams of those who wronged them and do the same. They will strangle the person as they sleep.

To avoid a Drekavac it would be wise to get a dog. Dogs are something that they fear. They also either cannot be in sunlight or dislike it. This is why it's usually heard at night. It's believed if you baptized the child then it would stop and move on.

They are usually solitary creatures, but are sometimes found in packs and will live together in a cave or tunnel.

Aliens: Pascagoula Creature

On the night of October 11, 1973, 19-year-old Calvin Parker and 42-year-old Charles Hickson went fishing on the west bank of the Pascagoula River in Pascagoula, Mississippi. It was a peaceful night until dusk and a strange sound of whirring and flashing blue lights was coming from the water. They looked up to see an oval-shaped object approximately 30 to 40 ft across and 8 to 10 ft high.

Three creatures would glide out of the craft and move in a mechanical-like way. The creatures were humanoid in figure and stood around 6 ft. Their skin was pale grey and wrinkled much like an elephant. They had no visible eyes but did have slits for mouths there were carrot-shaped "growths" that seemed to be where a human's nose and ears would be. There was no neck, just the head connected to the shoulders, and only one leg that looked like two fused together and ended with an elephant-like foot.

The men would freeze and be completely paralyzed, but conscious. The creatures would bring them on board and seemed to be subjected to a medical exam by a giant robotic eye. Just like that, they were returned to shore and the ship sped away into the sky.

The men were scared and reported the incident to  Keesler AFB and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. In an audio recording that was taken secretly, the men seemed to be traumatized. They worried for their families and didn't want to be thought of as deceiving anyone.

Two more people claimed to have seen the lights over the river that night and thought it was a helicopter or plane. They also claimed to have seen someone in the water at one point, but did not get a good look at the person.

Cryptids: Sidehill Gouger

The Sidehill Gouger is a fearsome critter in American Folklore. There are other names for this creature The creature is variously known as the Sidehill Dodger, Sidehill Hoofer, Side-hill Gazink, Sidehill Ousel, Sidehill Loper, Sidehill Galoot, Gyascutus, Sidewinder, Wampus, Boofum, Gudaphro, Hunkus, Rickaboo Racker, Prock, Gwinter, or Cutter Cuss. This creature resides on hillsides because they have one leg longer than the other. Their appearance is not specific and can resemble any mammal and they lay eggs, usually having 6 to 8 in a litter. It loves steeper hillsides and lives in burrows.

They cannot stand on even land and can only travel in one direction. When they are chased off the hillside or somehow fall from the hill onto a plain they trap themselves as they can only move in a circular path. This usually leaves them to starve to death or become prey to other animals.

As they can only travel one way there are two types. Counter-clockwise gouger, and a clockwise gouger. If they meet on the same path the two gougers will have to fight to the death. But it is also said that gougers traveled from New England to the West with the help of each other. Think of them walking like a three-legged race, but only the outer two are used to walking and they have to hold onto each other.

It's believed that Gouger's are responsible for the formation of hoodoos and Terracettes.

Cryptids: Freshwater Octopus

It is said that a medium sizes cephalopod, an octopus, is sometimes found in rivers of North America. It is said that they are 2 to 3 ft long and there were sighting in several places. Octopuses needing a high saline that would mean if they were actually found in freshwater that they are a miracle mutation or evolution allowed them to.

One sighting was on December 24, 1933, by Robert Trice and R.M. Saunders. They were fishing on the Kanawha River near Charleston, West Virginia when they hauled in a 3 ft. octopus. Recent research by Mark Hall proved that this was indeed a hoax.

On January 30, 1959 people witnessed a grey octopus was seen surfacing and moved onto the bank of the Licking River near Covington Kentucky.

On November 19, 1999, a dead octopus was found on the bank of the Ohio River at the Falls of Ohio State Park in Jefferson, Indiana on some fossil beds. It was identified as a Caribbean arm stripe octopus or a bumblebee two-stripe octopus, both Atlantic species.  It was not in a state of decomposition meaning its death was recent. This doesn't mean however that it lived in the waters. It's possible that someone had recently abandoned a pet there and did not realize the octopus would survive or that it is another hoax.

Cryptids: Trunko

One of four known photographs of the Trunko carcass, taken by A. C. Jones

On December 27, 1924, an article titled "Fish like Polar Bear" was published in the London's Daily Mail. On October 25, 1924, an animal was spotted in Margate, South Africa. first seen batteling two killer whales for 3 hours. it reportedly lifted itself  out of the feet 20 ft and used its tail to fight. The creature would lose the fight and washed up on Margate Beach. Where it laid tere for 10 days.

The creature was given the name Trunko . It appeared to have long white fur, and had an elephant trunk and a lobster like tail. The trunk was said to be attatched directly to the torso and no head was noticable. It was measured to be 14 m (47ft)  in length and 3m (10ft), and the trunk was 1.5 m (5ft) and the diameter was 36cm (14in). It was devoid of  blood.

Though it's unknown what the creature was it's now believed that it may have been a washed up whale carcass. Because the locals or those who've seen it were ignorant of how animal carcass's can decompose. It's possible that it was a globster which made it look as if it has hair.

Monsters: Black Annis

In the countryside of Leicestershire, England there is a cannibalistic witch living in a dark cave in the Dane Hills. She's known as Black Annis' Bower by the locals. She is very tall and horrible, with blue skin, long sharp teeth, claw-like fingers, and glowing eyes. The entrance of the cave is an old oak tree which she often hides at night and waits for her next meal.

She only leaves the cave to find tasty children with the tastiest being those who misbehave. If no children could be found then she would feed on livestock like sheep and lambs. It was most common to see her pull the children with her long arms through windows (no glass at the time). The children would be warned of her visit as her howl could be heard from miles away. Sometimes you can even hear her teeth grinding.

She would suck her preys dry of blood, and then the skins are hung on the oak tree to dry.

Her cave was filled with dirt into the late 1800s, possibly burying Black Annis in her home. It's unknown as it's believed that she was an immortal being able to adapt to the modern world. It's said that she adopted the name Cat Anna at the end of the 1800s and was said to be living in cellars under Leicester Castle where a supposed subterranean passage connect to Dane Hills.

It's unknown where Black Annis would reside now. Her territory is entirely lost now as the hillside is now a large housing estate.

Monsters: Tiyanak

The Tiyanak is a vampiric creature in Philippine history. The Tiyank are babies who are offsprings of a woman and demon, babies who died before receiving baptism, aborted fetuses, and or babies born in a coffin birth. It is said that the Tiyanak live in the forests.

They will transform into normal looking babies and cry trying to attract a human to their aid. When a human finds it the tiyanak will transform back to its demon form and attack its prey, most likely eating it. If becoming prey to a Tiyanak the best way to survive is to turn your clothes inside out. The Tiyanak will find it funny and release you.

The looks of the Tyanak's form differ from story to story. One says that it stays the same as a normal baby, but grows fangs and claws. Another is that it share similarities with dwarves and it's true form is a wrinkled old man with a long beard, mustache, a flat nose and eyes the size of pesta coins, and the reason it takes form of a baby is because of it's difficulty hunting due to uneven legs. Another story is said to fly through the forest as a baby and can transform into a blackbird. Another version from Pampanga it's described as a small, nut-brown people with large noses, wide mouths, large fierce eyes and sharp voices and they float instead of walk.

Monsters: Orang Minyak (Oily Man)

In Malaysian Folklore, there is a horrible being who would attack women, mostly virgins, and leave eternal scars. The being would be known as Orang Minyak or the Oily Man. The physical and eye colors would differ for descriptions, but what made an Orang Minyak one was its oily black skin and insatiable sexual desire. The monster would be blamed for rapes starting in the 1950s.

The being has an oily black body would serve nothing but convenience for him. It would serve as a disguise during the night, serve as a lubricant, and if he was caught it would allow him to slip out of their hands. The oil wouldn't leave a trace. He's also said to be able to climb walls. The only inconvenience of it is that he would be seen during the day because he would either be naked or in swim shorts. That's why there are hardly any claims of him during the day.

There are different origin starts for an Orang Minyak. One is that it was a supernatural entity from the start, and was summoned by evil shamans, witches, etc. wanting it to do evil. Other accounts imply that Oranf Minyaks are men who turn to the assistance of dark forces with extreme sexual frustration and desperation. He's likely would want the forces to help win the attention of a spurned crush, or receive love from a former lover.

His deeds are similar in each account though. He would have to rape 21 virgins in 7 days in favor of the dark forces. Even after the contract is fulfilled he would still ravage unsuspecting victims. When the monster comes across a virgin girl he would ravage her. He would sometimes rape women and girls who were not virgins.

The being has an oily black body would serve nothing but convenience for him. It would serve as a disguise during the night, serve as a lubricant, and if he was caught it would allow him to slip out of their hands. The oil wouldn't leave a trace. He's also said to be able to climb walls and paralyze victims. The only inconvenience of it is that he would be seen during the day because he would either be naked or in swim shorts. That's why there are hardly any claims of him during the day.

Women and girls would take precautions against an attack. It's believed that leaving a man's sweaty clothes near their bed or wearing them would make the Orang Minyak think there was a male there. In order to avoid confrontation, they would not rape their prey.

Some would go to a bomoh, a Malay spirit medium, to help ward away the monster. Some also believed that if they bit their left thumb and covered it with a batik, a magically treated cloth, during an attack would stop it.
