The Attack on Julie Cooper

Photo of Julie after the attack
Photo of Julie 7 years after the attack

Between 1:05 and 1:15 pm on 15 August 2000, 28-year-old Julie Cooper was walking back to work after taking a lunch break at home. She would be attacked on a cycle path close to Norfolk County Hall, Martineau Lane, and a local industrial estate at Europa in Norwich, England. Julie would suffer from injuries and on her face and upper body from a knife or sharp weapon and had been robbed.  Julie would survive the attack and would end up having several surgeries because of it.

The attack was not common in this area of Norwich, and there didn't seem to be any similar attacks or offences leading up to the attack. The area she was attacked may have been a busy traffic route, but at the time the path was heavily overgrown so her attacker may have done the attack in that area for that reason.

Police hope that someone will come forward with information so that this case could be solved.

Who Killed Andy The Goose?

Andy visits some of his fans.

Andy with some of his fans picture credited to Jessica Korgie

In 1987 a grey goose named Andy was born without any webbed feet on a farm in Harvard, Nebraska. In 1989 Gene Fleming from the nearby town Hastings heard of the disabled Goose. Gene was a member of a local charity for disabled children and an inventor. Glen would take in Andy and his mate Polly and moved them to his farm in Hastings.

Gene would try to give Andy more mobility with a skateboard prosthesis, but it would fail. He would then fit Andy with a pair of specially adapted baby shoes, and this was successful as he taught Andy how to walk. The miraculous goose would then catch media attention and inspired many who were handicapped.

Andy would appear in things like People magazine and The Tonight Show. He would then be given a lifetime supply of shoes, which was convenient because he would wear out his shoes at least once a month. Unfortunately, his life would be cut short.

On October 19, 1991, Andy would be kidnapped and found later in a local park. The Flemmings had no idea that he was missing until the phone call asking "Is Andy Ok?". The people who found him in the park recognized the poor Goose's well-known shoes. His head and wings were removed.

The community would collect and raise $10,000 as a reward to help apprehend the murderer, though no one was identified.
