A Babi Ngepet is an Indonesian cryptid similar to a werewolf but with a demon boar. According to legend the creature is believed to be a person practicing pesugihan bab black magic. Which is magic that helps people become rich instantly. In exchange for wealth, something must be sacrificed which is usually their humanity. This allows the person to become a Babi Ngepet where they either transform into a boar or a boar demon possesses them. The boar is described as being larger than the average boar, with a muddy complexion and bloody mouth, sometimes with a human face. 

Some of the stories told about a man enveloped in black robes and an assistant. The man in robes would then turn into a Babi Ngepet, He would then roam around the village rubbing his body against walls, doors, cupboards, and furniture. This was to magically carry away with the villager's money, gold, and valuables. If successful they transform back to their human self and the robes filled with the items. 

While this is happening the assistant would stay home and guard a lit candle floating in a water basin. If the candle is shaking, fading, or almost out that means the Babi Ngepet is in danger, caught by villagers, or returned to being human.

Because of this belief, Javanese villagers will often kill or chase away any boar near the village at night.

Urban Legends: Never open your door for the makcik keropok

In Singapore, there is an urban legend that you don't open the door involving an elderly woman who would go door-to-door selling kerpok. She was known as Makciks Keropok and had a Pontianak as her assistant. Be careful opening your door because you may encounter her. You can tell it's not her if she doesn't greet you by saying "kum kum" *a shortened version of the Muslim greeting Assalamualaikum. She can not say it as she is unholy. She will release the Pontianak into the home.

If you open the door and buy her crackers she will release her assistant. The Pontianak is a vampire ghost. She will help the old woman gain her youth and beauty back by taking it from you.

Haunted: Jeruk Purut Cemetery

The Jeruk Purut Cemetary is located in South Jakarta, Indonesia. It is one of the better take care of cemeteries in Jakarta, and holds several tales of hauntings. 

One ghost of the cemetery is that of a decapitated pastor who carries his head around. He is usually followed around by a large black dog. Supposedly he haunts the cemetery because he died there and believes he's buried there and is searching for his grave. It is said that he isn't buried there but at the Tanah Kusir Cemetery. The ghost story has been around for decades. Many searches at night for the pastor, but it seems he only shows up on Friday Nights and to people with an odd amount in their group.

Other ghosts in the cemetery include a child and a large hairy ghoul.

Depictions of Rangda the Queen of the Leyak

The Leaks are humans practicing black magic in Bali and their mistress is the queen of Leyak Rangda. She is a widow-witch who plays prominent roles in public rituals. Her mask is kept in the village death temple during her temple festivals. It's said that both Demons and Leyaks follow Rangda. A Leyak cannot leave Bali.

Leyaks have cannibalistic behavior. They have the ability to change themselves into animals and fly. In normal form they are seen as a normal human during the day, at night their head and entrails break from their body and fly. In this form, they have a long tongue and large fangs.  They are said to haunt graveyards to feed on corpses. It is said that they also target pregnant women to suck their baby's blood. Sometimes they would possess people.

Disappearance of Alicia Andriana Gandha, Christine Claire Gandha, and Gillian Frace Gandha

5-year-old Alicia, 3-year-old Christine, and 1-year-old Gillian Gandha went missing from Covina, California. The three were last seen on Jan. 1, 2002 in Indonesia. There is little information in this case.

Alicia is an Asian female and was 5-years-old at the time. She was 3'3" and 35 lbs at the time. She has black hair and brown eyes. She also has a birthmark on her back.

Christine is an Asian female and was 3-years-old at the time. She was 3'0" and 25 lbs at the time. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Gillian is an Asian female and was 1-year-old at the time. She was 2'10" and 23 lbs at the time. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Murder of Ita Martadinata Haryono

18-year-old Martadinata Haryono who went by Ita was in her senior year. She was a member of Volunteers for Humanity. The group was helping rape victims of the brutal May of 1998 riots. On October 6, 1998, the group released a press conference bringing light to the mass rapes that occurred during the time. At least 168 women were raped and around 20 had died from injuries from the rape or suicide.

Because of the press conference, many members of Volunteers for Humanity received death threats. The threats were in an attempt to stop the group from getting an international investigation to happen on the rapes and the burning of Indonesian girls and women.

On October 9, 1998, she was found dead in her bedroom in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. She was stabbed around 10 times in her stomach, chest and right arm and her arm was slashed. It was unknown if she was sexually assaulted as reports hinted at it, but it was never confirmed with Law Enforcement.

The group took this as a warning from the killers. They were planning to fly to America with four victims soon to talk in front of the U.S. Congress about what was happening.

Law Enforcement suspects that her death may not have been the result of the death threats the people of the Activist group were getting. It's possible that someone was attempting to rob her home and Ita walked in on them doing so and killed her.
