Disappearance of Cindy "Tig" Rivera

On June 30, 2012, 19-year-old Cindy "Tig" Rivera left the home she shared with her father on Peggy Lee Lane in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She was driving a purple 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier with New Mexico plate number JFZ-534. She told him that she was going to be back in a few.

Cindy and her 1-year-old son were staying the night at the home of a health care client of her mothers. Her mother wasn't home at the time as she was spending the night with a friend so Cindy was supposed to take care of the bedridden client.

At 2 a.m. Cindy called her mother telling her that Chris Trujillo, Cindy's Ex and baby's father, was at the client's home drunk. She didn't sound frightened on the phone so her mother told her to chase Chris off. This was the last time she was heard from.

The bedridden client would hear the baby crying all night. When Cindy's family arrived at the home they found the baby in the bathroom. The garage door was open, and her slippers, lighter, and a couple of cigarettes was found on the ground outside.

Girl Murdered by Ancient Soldiers

Image Credited to BBC
Archeologist excavating near a former Roman settlement in the county of Kent, England, lying in a shallow grave was the skeletal remains of a young woman between 16 and 20 years old. Her shallow grave was amid ancient military gear believed to be left behind from the 1st Century Claudian invasion. Inside her grave with her were pottery pieces dated around 50 A.D. about four years after the Claudian Invasion.

It was believed that the items found in the trench were abandoned after the Romans were done taking over the area. They dug pits and dumped broken or unneeded things for their travel. They had done the same with the girl. Possibly her use to them was done when they left. They were done with her.  She was in a kneeling position and was stabbed in the back of her head.

They didn't even give her a nice burial as they dug a shallow grave and dumped her in and covered her with dirt. She was lying face down in her grave her body laid twisted. One foot was out of the grave and one of her arms underneath her.

There is little known about the girl. She was young and healthy and was likely a native to the area, unlike the invading Romans. Another indication she was native was that she was buried North/South instead of East/West/.

Her story has unfortunately been lost to time.

Cline Falls Axe Attack

In 1977 19-year-old Terri Jentz who was from Western Springs, Illinois and 20-year-old Avra Goldman from Wellesley, Massachusetts were roommates and students at Yale University. They decided that summer that they were going to cycle across the U.S. via the newly opened Trans America Trail. They would end their tour in Astoria, Oregon.

On the night of June 22, they headed east from Astoria and ended up in Cline Flass State Park in Oregon. They decided to camp there for the night though the women felt uneasy as if they were being watched. The two would go to bed and would wake up at 11:30 p.m. to the sound of a vehicle. This was when the nightmare would start.

It was initially believed that the truck pulling up belonged to partying teenagers. The truck would then drive over the tent its tires pinning Terri down, this would break both her arms, one leg, her collar bone, and several ribs as well as crushing her lung. A man exited the vehicle with an axe. He would hit Avra in the head with it around 6 times.

The man then would hover over Terri looking down at her. He would slowly bring down the axe over Terri and she caught it in her hands above her heart by the blade. He then withdrew it and drove away. He left the girls to die. Terri would describe him as a fit cowboy type.

Avra was able to get to the roadside even though her leg was broken and she had wounds from the axe. A motorist heard her cries and took both women to the hospital. They would state the scene was a bloody mess. Miraculously neither woman lost their lives even though their injuries were significant.

Terri was able to remember the attack, but Avra's eyesight went bad from the wounds and she couldn't remember that night. The man who attacked them was never caught. Later Terri would go back to Oregon to search for the man who tried to kill her and this caused her to write "A Strange Piece of Paradise".

She found out that all the initial information on the case was lost. This included interviews, physical evidence, and crime scene photos. She also found that the man who was thought to have tried to kill them a child rapist and child murderer Richard Wayne "Bud" Goodman did not match the description.

Instead, she said that another suspect who she gives them a different name in her book as Dirk Duran. He matches the description and had told people over the years that he was not involved with the ax attack. But others in the community had suspected him.

The Kayhausen Boy

In 1922 the body of a young boy was found in a bog in Lower Saxony, Germany. He was called the Kayhausen Boy and was between 7 and 10-years-old and had lived and died between 300 and 400 BC. The boy had been killed and it's more than likely due to sacrificial reasons.

The young boy had been bound. Strips of woolen fabric were used to tie his arms behind his back, and a length of textile was wound around his neck, passed between his legs, and back up to his neck where the two ends were tied together. It was found that he had been stabbed 3 times in the neck and once in the left arm. It was likely killed with a dagger with a 4-centimeter blade. It's unknown if he was stabbed before or after he was bound.

It's likely he was sacrificed because he was disabled and probably considered disfavored by their gods. He had suffered from an infected socket at the top of his femur and was unable to walk without assistance. His story and identity will never be known as it was lost to history.

There is a picture of the boy, but it shows how he's tied up and to be a bit too much to post on here. Both links below do have images of this mummy though.

Murder of Jeff Curry

African American man Jeff Curry had a verbal argument with Frank Powell and Frank's son about a job he's done with them. During the argument, it was said he swore to kill Frank. Near the Blue Creek, Alabama mines he concealed himself and waited by a road that he knew Frank would pass. He was caught and arrested before he could try to kill Frank.

On the night of March 19, 1888,  Constables David Rainey and Sam Redden were going to bring him to Birmingham jail. They claimed that 12 disguised white men overtook the guards and took Jeff from them. The mob of men then tied Jeff to a large tree. They then shot him to death. It was said that his body was riddled with bullets. The men then disappeared into the woods.

In the newer article, it's stated that Frank and Jeff pulled revolvers out at each other, and this was why he was arrested. The older articles indicated that this did not happen. It's also suspected that Frank and his friends may have killed Jeff.

This case has never been solved.
