Murder of Duncan

In the 1980s a body of a man was found during building work at the Lanes Shopping Center in Carlisle, England. It appeared that he had been murdered as his head showed evidence of damage by a weapon that caused a small entry wound and large exit, and he had several facial injuries. It's impossible to know who had killed and dumped this man in a well as it had happened 1,700 years before in the 3rd Century A.D.

The man was called Duncan by excavators. It's believed that this was an unlawful killing and hiding of the body.  At the time of his death, it was against the law for anybody to buried inside city limits. The dead had to buried outside of the city and if caught the family of the deceased would be paying a heft fine.

It's unknown now if this man's murder had been known or solved. This case will always remain a mystery

November 6, 1930 Hardingstone, England John Doe

In November 1930, 35-year-old Alfred Rouse met a man outside of a London, England pub. The man would tell him a down-and-out and a hard-luck story, he was looking for work and mentioned he had no family. Alfred would then bring the unknown man to a pub for drinks. He would drink lemonade as he pays for the unknown man's drinks.

Alfred for a while thought of faking his own death for a while. He was fed up with his life and was expecting children from his mistresses. He wanted to start life over again and realized that the man would not be missed and took the opportunity. He would search out for the man on the 2nd or 3rd of November and would find him. Alfred would tell the man that he was going to Leicester on Wednesday and would give the unknown man a lift there. He would make an appointment to meet the man to meet on November 5th at 8 p.m.

On the 5th he would meet the man outside of the pub. The two men would ride in Alfred's Morris Minor. On the drive, the two would talk a lot, and the man would drink the whisky Alfred gave him. When they got to Hardingstone the man would be half dozing due to the whisky. He would grip the man's throat with his right hand and pushed his head against the back of the seat. The man did not resist and just gurgled.

Around 1 a.m. on November 6th Alfred would then go and loosen the feeding pipe between the petrol tank and the carburetor. He would take the petrol can from the boot and poured it on both the victim and the vehicle before placing it back in the rear of the car and grab his attaché case Standing from a distance he would catch the vehicle on fire. The man was unconscious and burned alive.

His intention was to walk to Northampton and travel to Scottland by train to start his new life. But when he was walking away from the vehicle he would pass two young men. The men noticed the smoke and said something about it. In response, Alfred responded with "It looks like someone's having a bonfire up there." Alfred would then abandon his plan and return home as the men had seen him and he believed that no one would think it was him who was dead. He would then report the vehicle stolen.

The victim was badly burned in the vehicle. He would not be identified. Alfred would be soon arrested for the murder. He would be insistent during the trial that the car was caught on fire due to John Doe's Cigar. That John Doe had been asked to fill the petrol and he must have accidentally lit the car on fire. The Jury would find him guilty and he would be sentenced to hang.

It wasn't until a few days before his execution on 10 March 1931 that Alfred admitted to the murder. He would write to the Daily Sketch of the events that happened. Alfred would refuse to help the police find the man's identity. He would though give some descriptions of him. He did not know the man's name as he had no reason to ask.

John Doe was between 33 and 40-years-old. He was 5'6" to 5'8". The autopsy revealed that he had worked in an extremely dusty place throughout his lfe. The following descriptions are from Alfred. The man was respectfully dressed in a light-colored overcoat and had an overall appearance of a clerk. He had a slight brogue and had a sporting or boxing tattoo on his right forearm. At the time he was wearing police boots and had told Alfred that London police had given them to him. He had also carried a sports diary.

In 2012 DNA was taken from the John Doe, but this has not led to an identification yet.

Girl Murdered by Ancient Soldiers

Image Credited to BBC
Archeologist excavating near a former Roman settlement in the county of Kent, England, lying in a shallow grave was the skeletal remains of a young woman between 16 and 20 years old. Her shallow grave was amid ancient military gear believed to be left behind from the 1st Century Claudian invasion. Inside her grave with her were pottery pieces dated around 50 A.D. about four years after the Claudian Invasion.

It was believed that the items found in the trench were abandoned after the Romans were done taking over the area. They dug pits and dumped broken or unneeded things for their travel. They had done the same with the girl. Possibly her use to them was done when they left. They were done with her.  She was in a kneeling position and was stabbed in the back of her head.

They didn't even give her a nice burial as they dug a shallow grave and dumped her in and covered her with dirt. She was lying face down in her grave her body laid twisted. One foot was out of the grave and one of her arms underneath her.

There is little known about the girl. She was young and healthy and was likely a native to the area, unlike the invading Romans. Another indication she was native was that she was buried North/South instead of East/West/.

Her story has unfortunately been lost to time.

November 14, 1920 Woolley, England Baby Jane Doe

On the afternoon of November 14, 1920, a farm laborer saw a green taxi-cab coming from the direction of Wakefield to Woolley, England. He said that the driver was wearing a uniform and that the nearside was a woman. He hadn't realized what the people in the taxi had done.

Another witness stated that while walking down Mill Lane towards Barnsley Rd. they saw the taxi pass the end of the lane. He saw someone closing a door and continued driving. What was left by the road was a pillow slip with a dead newborn baby girl inside.

The girl had been born alive but may have died due to inattention at birth. It's likely that the baby was abandoned like this to hide the fact the mother was even pregnant.

When Harry's body was discovered it was found that there were two uneaten beef and horseradish sandwiches inside a paper bag from Burtons. The sandwiches were bought by a man in his 30's who was slim and tall. The man told them that the sandwiches were for the man who called every day for a pie.

Harry liked to drink at local pubs and may have told someone of the money he kept in his home. He was distrusting of banks. The motive for the murder may have been a robbery. thousands of pounds in cash was stolen, along with his wallet and a gold watch that was inscribed with 'To Harry Flegg on his retirement'.

Disappearance of April Fabb

On 8 April 1969 about 1:40 p.m. 13-year-old April Fabb left her home on her bike to visit her sister in Roughton, Norfolk, England. She left with a full pack of cigarettes,5 1/2d, and a handkerchief in the saddlebag of her bike. She planned on giving her brother-in-law the cigarettes for his birthday.

Shortly after she left her home she met two friends at the "Donkey's Field" next to Harrison's Farm on Cromer Rd. in Metton. She only hung out with them for around 10 minutes because she wanted to get to her sister's. An employee at Harrison's Farm saw her riding along Roughton Rd. in Metton towards Roughton after 2 p.m.

At 2:15p.m. Ordnance Survey workers in a van spotted April's bike in a field on the same road she was last seen on. This was no longer than 10 minutes since the other worker saw her and she was missing. At 3 p.m. a local man spotted the bike there as he was driving his mother home. He took it to the police House in Roughton. Her money, the cigarettes, and the handkerchief were still in the saddlebag.

It became apparent later in the day that April was missing. Her mother had found that she never made it to her sister's home in Roughton. The following morning a fullscale search was underway. A local search was done for the girl and inquiries were made with April's family and friends. The search and investigation were so thorough that 1,971 statements and 419 House to House Questionnaires were completed. April still couldn't be found.

April is a white female and was 13-years-old at the time. She would turn 14 on the 22nd. April was wearing a wine-colored wool skirt, a green jumper, a pair of long socks, and wooden-soled sandals with red straps and brass buckles.

The Buggane

Photo of St. Trinian's Church
The Buggane is a humanoid creature or cryptid that's native to the Isle of Man. It's a shape-shifter and an ogre-like creature who tends to live in old ruins, forests, and waterfalls. It will reside there until disturbed somehow and are unable to cross water or stand on hollow ground. In some variations, the Buggane is a water spirit that resides in waterfalls and streams.

They can often be seen as a horse or cow, but can also take on a human appearance. It's noticeable when they are in their human form as they have long teeth, hair, and nails. Their natural form is depicted as being covered in coarse black hair, and having eyes like torches, and has sharp glistening tusks.

Bugganes's are considered intelligent as they can communicate with humans. They have great strength and magical abilities. Fairies call upon the Buggane's to help punish people who've offended them. The most famous story involving the Buggane is that involving St. Trinian's Church in The Isle of Man.

In the 14th century, the St. Trinian's Church was going to build near the Greeba Mountains on the Isle of Man. The Buggane knew that the church was going to be built. He was angry because he knew the bells would disturb the peace. Thus when the church would build a roof upon the building he would tear it down.  The people gave up building the roof when it was torn down a third time.

The London Stone

The London Stone sits in Cannon Street in London, England behind a glass panel (formerly an iron gate). The purpose or reason for the preservations of a small block of limestone still a mystery. Originally the stone was a part of a larger object and was fixed in a street. For hundreds of years, the Stone was considered to be the heart of London. It had become a traditional place for people to pass laws, claim debts, declare oaths, and make official proclamations.

The first mention of the London Stone was in 1188. It was referenced with Henry Fitz Ailwen also knowns as Henry Lundenstone referring to the area in which he lived. He had become Lord Mayor of London. It's possible the stone had been there up to 924-939, one website said it was actually first mentioned in documents.

During Jack Cade's failed rebellion in 1450, Jack Cade was said to have struck the stone with his sword and declared he was "Lord of this City." In 1520 it was indicated on a map that the stone laid in the middle of the street.

In 1742 the stone was moved further north on the street and then was built into the wall of St. Swithin''s Church. During the WWII Blitz, the church was badly damaged. The stone survived even though it home did not, in 1962 the Church was demolished. The stone was then moved to a wall in 111 Canon Street where it now lays.

It could have been a something similar to a Roman Milestone. In which it was used to pinpoint a place to which all distances in Brittian or at least London were measured. This theory was done by William Camden's Brittanica in 1586.

The Stone may be the Stone of Brutus. The legend goes that it may have been part of an altar built by Brutus of Troy for the Goddess Diana. Some believe that the stone was blessed and had blessed London. "So long the Stone of Brutus is safe, so long London will flourish."

It's possible that the stone was used in another religion as a form of worship. It could be possible the stone was used in ancient druid practices. This theory also came about in the 1500's by John Strow. In 1598 John Strow wrote The Survey of London in which he goes over his theory.

Some believe that it may be the stone that King Arthur pulled the sword out of. It's highly unlikely though as a mystery lies with King Arthur. No one really knows if the king was real or not.

In all honesty we may never find out why the London stone has been so important for hundreds of years. Hopefully for the next few hundred the same care is done for the stone and it's mysterious ability to survive Londons most difficult times.

Vrillon and His Message From Ashtar Galactic Command

Around 5 p.m. on November 26, 1977 ITN News in Southern Britain was taken over. T.V. news anchor Andrew Gardner was doing the

10 minutes past five was when the T.V. screen began to distort and the sound of Andrews voice began to fade as a new voice sounded. He introduced himself as Vrillon and he spoke for the Ashtar Galactic Command. and he relayed his message for about 6 minutes. The video above is of the broadcast.

The basics of the message was that the person's name was Vrillon and he spoke for the Ashtar Galactic Command. He hints that people are right that Aliens exist. He asks the humans to get rid of their weapons of destruction and live in peace. They're concerned for the well being of Earth and wanrs of false prophets and

Many were left confused by by the broadcast that seemed to have come from Aliens. It was later deemed a hoax and was performed by some one with a good amount of technical skills. It's also thought that the person chose to do it on a news broadcast instead of a program, so that the message would have been heard by more people. But some still wonder if it really was a prank as there was no punchline or anything of the sort. Only the bits of fear he put into some.

So is the message from Vrillon human or someone from the stars?

The Disappearance of Glenn Miller

On March 1, 1904 Alton Glenn Miller, later known as Glenn Miller, was born in Iowa. His mother would pass on her love of music onto him. Growing up Glenn moved to several states in 1906 they moved to Nebraska, and then in 1917 they moved to Grant City, Missouri. In Missouri Glenn and his older brother Dean joined the community band. He played Trombone for them.

In 1918 they again moved, but to Fort Morgan, Colorado. He was a part of the football team, but did not give up on music. His passion for a new type of music called dance band music, even caused him and some fellow classmates to start their own band.

His passion for the music was so big in 1921 instead of staying for his graduation he wet to Wyoming to play in a band. His mother had to accept his diploma on his part. The principal even commented that she worked harder on it than Glenn did.

Glenn made the decision to become a professional musician. He had even signed a contract with a band called the Senators Stampedes. He had attempted to stay in college even was a part of the Boulder Orchestra, but it only lasted two years. He then went onto the Tommy Watkins Orchestra.

Glenn had played for several bands from Los Angeles to New York, and 1937 he finally decided to create his own band. It had failed, but he did not give up his dreams. He tried again in the March of 1939 and this time he gained recognition. By the fall of 1939 the band was known nation wide. They even played for the movies Sun Valley Serenade in 1941 and Orchestra Wives in 1942.

In 1942 Glenn thought it was best to serve in the military and support the troops. He was not drafted due to his older age and so he volunteered, but was initially rejected. After writing to the Army's Brigadier General Charles Young on August 12, 1942 he was accepted. He was hired to help bring more life to the military band and modernize them.

The last concert his civilian band played was on September 27, 1942. It was a sad occasion for the whole band. Their last song was supposed to be their theme song Moonlight Serenade. They could not finish it all the way.

Glenn became part of the Army Specialty Corps and conducted a 50 member Army Air Force Band. His goal was to bring some modernization to the military band. He wanted the troops to feel a touch at home with their music.

Like in his civilian life Glenn's Military Band was a hit. Some even claim that this was the best band he was a part of. The band gave over 800 performances many were for the troops, and some were broadcasts. They even played for the troops overseas

On December  15, 1944 Glenn boarded a single engine C-64 plane from the UK to Paris. He was going to prepare the band to play. But Glenn never made it to France. It's believed that his plane crashed into the English Channel.

Glenn was a 40 year old male. There isn't any other statistics for him.
