Disappearance of Phyllis Gilliam

On August 16, 1971, 11-year-old Phyllis Gilliam was last seen leaving her grandmother's apartment in the 2100 block of Saxon Plaza in Columbia, South Carolina. She was supposed to go to the laundromat on Read St. One witness stated that they had seen her leave the cleaners and headed towards Two Notch Rd at 2:30 pm. By September friends, neighbors, and family would place a $450 reward for information on where Phyllis was. This was however fruitless as she was never seen again.

Her family said that Phyllis would not had gotten into a car with someone she did not know. It would be likely if someone did make her get into one she would have fought. 

Phyllis is a black female and was 11-years-old at the time. At the time she was 4'0" and 65 lbs. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black and white dress at the time.

July 25, 1971 Detroit Michigan John Doe (fingers)

On July 25, 1971, three left fingers from a black male were found in Detroit Michigan. The middle finger displayed a class ring marked with "1968" and the initial "PB". The stone from the ring was missing.

If the ring belonged to the person whose finger it was found on would mean that John Doe was likely in his early 20s or late teens. It would also mean that his initials were likely PB. It's not stated what school they believed the ring was from.

Disappearance of James Charles Stanford

In May of 1971 16-year-old, James Stanford went missing after telling his family of wanting to go to a convent in California or Texas. He disappeared from Overland, Missouri.

James is a white male and was 16-years-old at the time. He's 6'3" and 125 lbs. He has brown hair and green eyes.

Murder of Susan Rae Perron

On June 13, 1971, 14-year-old Susan Perron left her home to walk to Lorenzi Park in Las Vegas. She had planned to swim and it's unknown if she made it there. This was the last time anyone had seen her. No one would know what had happened to her for almost 2 years. 

On April 16, 1973, her skeletal remains were found in a desert area about 5 miles west of U.S. Highway off of Lone Mountain Rd. It was determined that her cause of death was blunt trauma to her head.

Disappearance of Debra Theresa Pscholka

 

On June 5, 1971, 12-year-old Debra Pscholka went to a movie on 6th St. in Corona, California (the theater is no longer there). She was caught smoking by staff and asked to leave around 8:15 p.m. She left alone telling her friends she would be at the park. She was never seen again after this. It's unknown if she made it to the park, but it's believed that she had been abducted. 

At the time Debra was a 7th-grade student at Corona Jr. High. She had no history of running away from home.

Debra is a white female and was 12-years-old at the time. She was 5'6" and 125 lbs. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a green and yellow striped blouse and Levi jeans.

Murder of Eleanor May Brusenbach

On Feb. 23, 1971, 54-year-old Eleanor Brusenbach was at the CPO Club on Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. She may have gone to The Dunes on Nimitz Highway in the early morning hours on Feb 24th. Later that day her body would be found in a cane field off of West Lock rd. in Ewa. 

Eleanor had been strangled to death and believed to have been sexually assaulted.

Murder of Joan Marie Wech

 

On October 2, 1971, 19-year-old Joan Wech was working at the Sydney Service Station, a petrol station on Flinders Street in Darlinghurst, New South Wales, Australia. At 10:35 p.m. her body would be found in a small storeroom of the petrol station. She had been stabbed seven times and had defensive wounds on her left hand and bruising on her face suggesting she'd been hit in the face. Motive is unknown in the murder, There was no sexual assault and no evidence of a robbery.

Joan was not a native to Australia, she was from New Zealand and was living with a couple in Darlinghurst at the time. She was popular and well-liked. She had first visited Sydney in 1970 and worked as an attendant at a car wash in Rushcutters Bay. She would return home in December of 1970. She would come back to Sydney in Feb. of 1971 to find work at the Sydney Service Station.

Disappearance of Matt Thomas Amon

 

In July of 1971 20-year-old Matt Amon was arrested for disorderly conduct and spent a few weeks in Bannock County Jail in Idaho. He would be released and would disappear shortly after and was last seen on Pocatello.

At the time he was allegedly hanging out with a rough crowd and was allegedly involved with heroin. He was not reported until around 40 years after he was last seen.

Matt is a white male and was 20-years-old at the time. He's 5'9" and 140 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes. He has a scar on the right side of his forehead.

Murder of Harvey Jackson

 On April 28, 1971, the body of 61-year-old Harvey Jackson was found near 107th and 104th st. in Palos Township, Illinois. Harvey had been shot multiple times. At the time he was employed at the Y.M.C.A. There is little information on this case.

Murder of Judith E. Hand

On September 10, 1971, 15-year-old returned from school around 2:10 p.m. She would then leave her home in Farmington, Maine to collect babysitting money and go babysit. She walked halfway there with two friends and when offered a ride she said she preferred to walk. She never returned and her parents reported her missing at 8:15 p.m.

On September 23, 1971, her body is found under a sawdust pile located off of High Street in Farmington. Her cause of death was never stated and it wasn't known if she had been sexually assaulted. She was also shy and was either forced into a car or got into a car with someone she knew.

Murder of Obediah Burgess Reaves

On April 26, 1971, 28-year-old Obediah Reaves went to his job as a security guard at the Star Loan Company on 227 Mitchell St. in Atlanta, Georgia. One article said that two men attempted to rob the Star Loan Company. Obediah tried to stop it During the robbery, Obediah tried to jump a gunman and was shot in the head. He did not automatically die and was sent to the hospital, but unfortunately, he died at the hospital.

One article states that there were two who were inside and one waiting inside a car. One suspect hopped inside of a 1966 blue Mustang and the driver drove off with him. The other suspect ducked into an ally and made an escape on foot.

Murder of Earl Collins

On the night of March 12, 1971, 49-year-old Earl Collins was working at the Ludlow Service Station on 219 E. Ave in Norfolk, Connecticut. Around 10:27 p.m. three black males entered the store. They decided to rob the store, and during the process one of the men shot Earl in the chest. A witness of the crime also had the gun pointed at him. The man tried to fire the gun, but it didn't.

Earl was still alive and made it to the hospital. The bullet had entered his spine. He had later died the next Tuesday at the hospital from his injury.

All three suspects were black males. One was light-skinned and was around 6'3" and 6'4". The other two were around 6'0" and had a medium complexion.

Disappearance of Ann Sanchez

Sometime in 1971 35-year-old Ann Sanchez was last seen at a store in Casa Grande, Arizona by her son. She was never seen again after this. Ann is a Native American woman and may use the last name Charge on Him. She's 5'2" and 130lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Disappearance of David Claude Yeager

On Feb. 7, 1971, 17-year-old was walking to Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisana. He was going to a school function and may have tried to hitchhike there. He was last seen on the 2600 block of Lola Lane in Shreveport. He was never seen again.

His family has stated that David had no reason to leave home. Since his disappearance, his bank account hadn't been touched. This led investigators believing that foul play may have happened. 

David is a white male and was 17 at the time. He's 5'6" to 5'8" and 220 to 240 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an off-white shirt and dark-colored pants.

Jan. 23, 1971 Harris County, Texas Jane Doe

On Jan. 23, 1971 a passerby found skeletal remains in a wooded area near the intersection of CE Kind Highway and East Mount Houston Rd in Harris County. She had been dead for 1 to 2 years. She was an African American or possibly biracial with Caucasian between 16 and 19-years-old. She was 5'1' to 5'6" and her weight is unknown. She had black hair.

She was wearing a red miniskirt with black, brown, yellow and orange zigzag pattern size 24 waist, a long-sleeved brown shirt size 16-36, a white bestform bra size 32C, a fringe sued jacket or vest and a pair of brown leather dressy sandal with a chunk heel size 6.

December 6, 1971 Galloway Township, New Jersey Jane Doe

On December 6, 1971, the skeletal remains of a young lady were found in the woods off of Jim Leeds Road near milepost #42 of the Garden State Parkway in Galloway Township, New Jersey. She died possibly died strangulation.

 She's a white female between 12 to18, but more than likely 12 to 14-years-old. She's 5'1" to 5'4" and 105 to 130 lbs. Her hair is naturally brown but had been dyed with shades of blonde, brown, and red. She had extra sacral vertebrae. She was wearing blue ribbed cotton or synthetic shirt, white, blue, and orange striped canvas or cotton hip huggers, a white bra, brown leather sandals, and a brown wide leather band with brass rings containing a ladies Westclock Watch.

Murder of Brandy Marie St. Romain

On August 27, 1971, a construction worker stumbled upon the body of 25-year-old Brandy Marie St. Romain. She was lying in a drainage ditch at 5100 Randol Mill in Fort Worth, Texas. She had been stabbed to death and her body left in the ditch.

August 14, 1971 DeKoven, Kentucky John Doe

On August 14, 1971, the body of a man was found floating in the Ohio River in DeKoven, Kentucky. He was a white male under 50 years of age. He was 5'10" and 145 lbs. He had brown long hair, possibly to his shoulders and possibly brown eyes. He was wearing jeans.

Disappearance of Douglas "Dougie" John Legg

On July 10, 1971 8-year-old Douglas John Legg was visiting his uncle in Newcomb, New York. He had 12,500-acre estate in the Santanoni Preserve in Newcomb and Douglas went on a family hike in the Adirondack wilderness.

His Uncle sent him back to the camp at 3:30 to put on some long pants to help protect from poison ivy. His uncle wasn't worried because Douglas had gone hiking in this area before and very familiar with it. It was only a short distance from where they were at. He never made it to the camp and was never seen again.

A six-week search ensued for the boy, but it was fruitless. Foul play isn't suspected and he may have gotten lost and or died from an accident in the wilderness.

Douglas is a white male and was 8 at the time. He was 4'6" and 76 lbs. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He went by Doug and Dougie. He has a slight speech impediment.
