Unknown Artist: Ehre Vater Artist

The Ehre Vater Artist was an American fraktur artist active between 1782 to 1828, It was found that the artist could be traced in every county in Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, and Ontario that saw the settlement of German immigrants. The name given to this artist is a german phrase meaning "honor father and mother", which is frequently found in the artist's art. It's believed that the artist lived among the Moravians of Salem, North Carolina. He however did accept patrons from other religious groups for example Roman Catholics.

The artist included aspects of Moravian Hymnody and had a particular skill in their cursive. It is also drawn on special paper with engraved scenes, which was unique in the works of known fraktur artists. Other common symbols in their art are pilasters used as portions of borers, large geometric balls that are sometimes surrounded by a piece of verse, and snakes twined with texts such as hymn lyrics.

Four known artists of this artist are in the collection of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, and other works are owned by the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, and Winterthur Museum.

Disappearance of Diane Marie Webb

18-year-old Diane Webb lived with her family in San Bernadino, California until 1959. In March her family would move to Dolan Springs, Arizona, and Diane would stay. She would then stay with her 16-year-old boyfriend, Bennie Webb, who would soon become her husband.

At least one time that year she stayed with her family in Arizona for a week. During the visit, she told her parents she was pregnant and that she was going to marry. Her father disapproved of the relationship, but her younger brother and mother made it to the wedding in Indio, California.

The wedding was the last time her family saw her, but they would receive letters for several months after her wedding. The last letter was mailed on August 22, 1959, for her little sister's birthday. It included handkerchiefs that she crocheted for her.

A letter would then arrive to Diane's family from Bennie in late 1960. He had believed that she was with them in Dolan Springs, and this confused them. They would send a letter back asking what had happened and when she had left.

On January 5, 1961, he responded back stating that he hadn't heard from or seen Diane in a very long time. That he had given her $100 and put her on a bus to Dolan Springs. He stated she wrote one letter to him after she left and stated she had a miscarriage. Bennie recommended they to talk to a friend of Diane's in California to see if she knew something.

In August of 1961 Diane or someone else using her name visited a dentist's office in California. This was the last possible sign of her.

Diane's family suspects that her husband had done something to her. Her father went to Bennies hometown in New Mexico where Bennies brother was a police chief. He was searching to see if he can find information on Diane. Allegedly Bennies brother chased him out of town.

Bennie is still alive, but is not cooperating with the police and refuses a polygraph. He allegedly never recalled marrying Diane, but their marriage certificate exists. This however seems suspicious but does not mean he is guilty.

Diane is a white female and was 18-years-old at the time. She's 5'2" to 5'4" and 110 to 120lbs. She has brown hair and grey eyes. She was pregnant at the time but may have had a miscarriage, one of her breasts was larger than the other, she has freckles on the tip of her nose, and her ears are pierced.

Cryptids: Freshwater Octopus

It is said that a medium sizes cephalopod, an octopus, is sometimes found in rivers of North America. It is said that they are 2 to 3 ft long and there were sighting in several places. Octopuses needing a high saline that would mean if they were actually found in freshwater that they are a miracle mutation or evolution allowed them to.

One sighting was on December 24, 1933, by Robert Trice and R.M. Saunders. They were fishing on the Kanawha River near Charleston, West Virginia when they hauled in a 3 ft. octopus. Recent research by Mark Hall proved that this was indeed a hoax.

On January 30, 1959 people witnessed a grey octopus was seen surfacing and moved onto the bank of the Licking River near Covington Kentucky.

On November 19, 1999, a dead octopus was found on the bank of the Ohio River at the Falls of Ohio State Park in Jefferson, Indiana on some fossil beds. It was identified as a Caribbean arm stripe octopus or a bumblebee two-stripe octopus, both Atlantic species.  It was not in a state of decomposition meaning its death was recent. This doesn't mean however that it lived in the waters. It's possible that someone had recently abandoned a pet there and did not realize the octopus would survive or that it is another hoax.

Psychic Phenomenon: Elaine Emmi

In 1983 Elaine Emmi and her neighbor Sharon Krakker were in Palm Springs, California. This was over a 100 miles away from their homes in Los Angeles. While eating at a restaurant Elaine was filled with dread and fear for her four-year-old son Matt. She felt like something had happened to him. She would repeatedly call home with no answer, and they would call Sharon's husband to ask, but he didn't notice anything wrong.

Sharon tried to calm Elaine down, but she couldn't. She was too worried for her son and insisted something was wrong. This would lead them to drive back to Los Angeles and she would stop and try to call home twice more with no answer. When Elaine arrived she found out Matt was in the hospital because he fell through a glass door and broken his arm. It happened at the same time Elaine started panicking.

Did Elaine's maternal instinct kick in over 100 miles away to protect her son?

The Taree Man

In November 2011 a skull was found at Manning Point, near Taree, in New South Wales, Australia. It was initially believed that it was the skull of a missing local teen. It was found that it was not true. It was found that 80% that the skull dated from 1650-1700 and 20% from 1780-1810. Even though it was initially believed that the skull belonged to a woman DNA found that they were a ma. It's believed that he was between 28 to 65-years-old white male.

It is believed that Captain James Cook was the first European to reach Australia in 1770. If the skull was from an earlier time period it could rewrite history. The remains could have been from anywhere as there were heavy rains meaning the skull could have been washed out of a private or unknown cemetary.

Some theorize that since the skull was in good condition and found alone with no other remains that it may have been part of a private collection which was popular in the 19th century.

Murder of Rita Irene Ellis

On the night of November 22, 2967, 19-year-old Rita Ellis was supposed to babysit for Wing Commander Roy Watson and his wife. Rita would be walked out of her housing with a nurse, Liz, and Liz's boyfriend Steve. Rita would wait in front of the WRAF women's housing block on the RAF Halton in England at 7:25 to be picked up by Roy. But when Roy came around at 7:40 she was nowhere to be seen. He would wait around 15 minutes for her.

He would return home and get his wife so that she could go into the women's block to look for Rita.  When they returned 10 minutes later his wife would go inside but she wasn't found. It was not known what had happened to her til the next day.

The next day in Rowborough Copse a woodland on the west edge of the camp someone would walk their dog. The dog walker would make it to where a disused railway line was and find Rita's body under some foliage. Rita's death was brutal had been beaten, sexually assaulted, and strangled to death with her own underwear.

Hundreds of civilians and military personnel were on the base. There were two public functions happening on the base that night, which were a bingo and a disco. It's believed that Rita may have been approached by a man in a vehicle and offered a ride. She may have mistakenly thought that he was Roy Watson because she had never met him before. She may have been too shy to question his identity. The man then took advantage of the opportunity and raped and murdered her.

Rita had grown up in Stevenage and joined the WRAF on April 28, 1967. She accomplished her basic training at RAF Spitalgate in Grantham, Lincolnshire. At the time of her murder, she was working in the kitchen of the Princess Marys Royal Air Force Hospital the catering department on the camp at RAP Halton in Buckinghamshire. She was described as a gentle soul by those who knew her.

DNA of the killer is available. It's possible that Rita was not the only victim. There was a case of a nurse being sexually assaulted and left for dead around 3 miles away from Rita's attack there's no definitive evidence that they were, but the two cases were very similar.

In 2002 Russel Turcotte was enjoying a free spirit lifestyle in July he began to make his way from his week-long hippie gathering in Brainerd, Michigan to his home state of Montana to attend a family member's wedding. He would hitchhike his way there and on July 12th Russel would make it to Simonson's Gas Station in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He would call to ask for a money order so that it would help him get back sooner. He was supposed to go to the Western Union to pick it up, but he never did.

On November 5, 2002, Russel's body would be found about 100 miles away in a tree row located ten miles west of Devil's Lake and half a mile north of U.S. Highway #2. His cause of death was blunt force trauma to the back of the head. His nearly nude body was covered with brush. It was believed that he'd been dead around the time he went missing to early August.

Some believe that the ball was dropped in this case. Russel was Native American a search for him took 3 months and not 3 hours to get off the ground and only a dozen police officers were used for it instead of over a 100. It is possible that he was a victim of serial killer Joseph Edward "Jet" Duncan III, who targeted young men.

1975 Faxaskjól, Iceland John Doe

On Marck 30, 1975 a group of kids was playing just outside the village of Faxaskjól, Iceland. The kids would find two large bones (now believed to be leg bones) and bring them to their parents. Not knowing any better their parents told them it was likely the bones of a large animal like a cow. On July 7th the kids would return to where they found the bones and remembering the leg bones decided to dig where they found them.

This was when they discovered that it wasn't a large animal, but a human. They found a jaw, some footbones and a sock. The children realized what they found went to one of their grandfathers to tell him. They would bring him to the bones and the police were called.

The police were criticized for their unprofessionalism in this case. Instead of blocking off the scene, people were freely allowed to enter the crime scene. Not only that instead of calling professionals to excavate the remains they allowed the children who found the remains to continue to dig them up fully knowing that this was likely a murder. One of the children had a dog at the scene and the dog would end up chewing on some of the bone.

The skeleton was believed to belong to a man in his 40s. It was likely he had died between 1951 and 1954, but it was unknown how he had died. He had been apparently buried in a cement tube (no sign of decomposition in the tube) in an area that used to be a shooting range for the U.S. and British soldiers during WWII. Residents were asked questions and only two came forward stating there was a large mound there between 1952 and 1955, but it was believed to have been to do with construction so no one investigated it.

John Doe was a man in his 40's and was around 5'8". All of his teeth, but two lower ones were found, he may have had trouble chewing. There were no other pieces of clothing other than socks found with the body, it's believed the socks may be the only thing he was wearing.
