Murder of Angela Belisle
On Jan. 3, 1981, 35-year-old Angela Belisle's body was found in her driveway at 62 Brooks Ave. in Burlington, Vermont. Someone walking by the home saw her body underneath the frozen snow. It was initially believed she had gotten out of her car and slipped in the snow and hit her head, possibly freezing to death. But that was proven false as they uncovered the snow on her and found that she had been shot to death.
Evidence shows that her killer waited for her hiding beside the garage. The person would move to their position and shoot Angela in the head. It seemed that the crime was perpetrated by someone who knew Angela or at least knew her schedule it was planned. Nothing was stolen and there was no contact between the killer and victim. If the gun was found the bullet would match.
Angela is a mother of three and a teacher. She and her ex had recently divorced. That night she met her ex at the parking lot of UVM and dropped off the children to spend the night at their Dads. She would then go to the grocery store and then home.

May 15, 1935 Middlebury, Vermont Does
On May 15, 1935, a woman named Grace Dague and her daughter Inez Perry Masterson were looking for flowers in the forest in East Middlebury, Vermont. Off of a remote road leading to the Brookins/Blackmer hunting came the two stumbled upon the skeletal remains of three murder victims.
The bodies were of a woman 34 to 45-years-old and two children one being 13 to 15-years old the other 9 to 11-years-old. At the time it couldn't be determined the genders of the children. and it's still unknown. Later DNA suggested the older child and woman were mother and child making it possible that she was mother to the two children.
Each had been shot in the head likely with a Colt Automatic which fired .38 caliber bullets. It's likely the three were sleeping when they were killed. As they seemed to have been in pajamas as pearl buttons used on them were found with the bodies and feathers from a pillow (likely from being used to shoot through to muffle the sound).
It's believed they had been there up to 1932 as one of the legs of one of the victims was covered by a tree root and a hunter, Edward Munso, stated he was hunting in the area and smelled a terrible odor in November of 1932, but didn't investigate it. The family may not have been local and may have been from anywhere.
Does 1 and 2 are believed and often talked about as if they are male, but their gender is still undetermined.

The Connecticut River Valley Killer's Suspected Victims
From 1978 to 1986 there were several women violently murdered along the New Hampshire and Vermont border in the Connecticut River Valley near Route 91. There are at least 6 connected murders that are believed to have been done by the same person. It's been noted that there are similar M.O.'s, often used dumpsites, and wound patterns that linked the murders. He seemed to include the attempted murder of a pregnant woman. All the victims were stabbed to death and their throats were slit. It's believed that the women listed here are possible victims of the same killer.

In 1988 Jane Boroski was seven months pregnant and was attacked outside of a closed convenience store. She was stabbed many times and was able to drive to a friend's home for help. She and the baby survived and she described him to the police and create a composite sketch. It's possible that she was a surviving victim of the Connecticut River Valley Killer.

Murder of Norman Lee Mercier
Around 5:40 a friend who worked at another store in the Plaza stopped by the store and found Norman lying behind the front door. He was still alive and attempting to talk. He was brought to the hospital but unfortunately died around 10 p.m.
The store seemed to look like it was ransacked. There was a table overturned and things were strewn across the floor. Blood was found at both the rear and front of the store. No one in the claimed to have heard the gunshot. It is unsure if robbery was motive as only $16 of almost $1,000 was stolen. There was evidence that the suspect spent a lot of time in the store.

Murder of Thomas and Elizabeth Whittemore
On September 4. 1968 a couple taking walk in the woods found the Whittmore's car Fire Hill Rd., in Pittsford Vt. The road they were found on was considered abandoned. Mr. Whittemore was in the passenger seat and Mrs. Whittemore was found slumped against the right side of the vehicle. It was determined that the two died from multiple gunshot wounds to the back of the head. The gun used was a .22 caliber revolver and was never recovered.
It could be possible the couple were abducted from the filling station and robbery was a motive. As the two days of receipts and money were never found. Money in Mr. Whittemore's wallet and Mrs. Whittemore's purse was untouched. Another theory is that the motive was murder, but made it look like robbery of the filling station.
According to the older news reports two New Jersey women were the last to see the couple at the filling station. It is unknown to me if these two women were found.

Murder of Doris E. Baker
She had been beaten with a hammer and then her throat was sliced and other parts of her were also cut. It could had also been a sexual assault. It was believed that it was either done by a sexual deviant and or a robbery gone wrong.
$50 was stolen from the store which would be equal to $425.06 in today's money. But her purse which had $150 in it was left untouched at the scene. Later there was a bloodstained $10 bill found and it could be possible that it was part of the money that was stolen.
There have been many suspects involved with this case. One suspect was Parran Youngblood a deaf/mute man who was seen in Barre that day. He was later shot and killed in Georgia in 1958 for supposedly kidnapping a 7 year old child. There was no solid evidence that it was him. There were other suspects also, but none were found to be prosecuted with the murder of Mrs. Baker.
In a result of Doris's death many of the resident in Barre became paranoid and scared. Several stores commented that they had sold out or almost sold out on chain latch door locks and other kinds of door locks. Many residents even were scared to even let political door to door campaign members enter their house thinking that ot may be the murderer.
