Lost Media: Tragic Death of Colin Scott

On June 7th siblings 23-year-old Colin Scott and his sister Sable would travel to Yellowstone National Park. At the time Colin had recently graduated from Pacific University and was visiting his sister from Portland, Oregon. The two planned to have a day trip to Yellowstone.

They would park not far from the Norris Geyser Basin in the Wyoming part of the park. Sable would record their trip and when they found that there was no one there with them on the boardwalk route they decided to venture off it.

The two planned to hot pot which is the prohibited exercise of swimming in hot springs. They would pass by warning signs and venture into a forbidden area. This area was prohibited due to the heat and acidity of the hot springs. These areas were dangerous and deadly and since 1890 there have been 22 known deaths from hotspring accidents.

The siblings would venture and a terrible accident would happen. Collin would slip into one of these hot springs. Sage would try to save her brother, but it wasn't possible. She would then run to the museum and beg for help. The whole accident would be caught on her phone.

By the time help arrived, it was obviously too late to save the young man. The only thing they could see was his head hands and upper torso and he was unmoving. It was too dangerous at the time to try to retrieve his body with the oncoming lightning storm and the volatile temperatures of the pools. The hotspring would completely dissolve his body overnight due to the heat and acidic nature of it. Only his wallet and flip-flops were found.

His death was tragic and left a warning to others about the dangers of going into prohibited areas. The recording is considered lost media and it would be best that it's left that way.

Cryptids: Jackalope and Jackanape

Image created in Bing Image Creator

Jackalope is a well-known fearsome critter. It is described as a jackrabbit with antelope antlers sometimes even a pheasant tail or hind legs. The name "Jackalope" derives from jackrabbit and antelope. There have been similar cryptids in history, but this one is based in America. It's said that the first sighting was in 1829 in Douglas, Wyoming.

Jackalopes are said to be extremely shy unless approached. They can often run fast around 90 miles per hour. It is said that they can imitate almost any sound including human voices. When they use human voice usually it's in phrases such as "There he goes! That way!". It's said that if you leave a flask of alcohol out a Jackalope would drink it and become intoxicated making it easier to hunt.

Jackanapes are the female version and are said to be able to milk while sleeping lying face up. Their milk is said to have medicinal uses. It is said that Jackanapes usually only breed during electrical storms or hail.

It's possible that the first sightings and some of them afterward were rabbits infected with the Shope papillomavirus. Which causes kreatine growths in rabbits typically near its head. It is probably the most common hoax taxidermied animal.

Lost Boy Larry

On August 7, 1973, a young boy would call out on the CB radio. A radio operator in California received the transmission of 7-year-old Larry calling out for help. He said he was lost in New Mexico and that he and his father had gone out rabbit hunting. His father would then collapse at the wheel, it may have been a heart attack, and the red and white truck crashed and landed upside down in a ditch. It was hard to tell what Larry was saying as he was sobbing heavily and the connection was poor, but he was able to tell the operator this much.

Over the next few days several CB operators in New Mexico, California, Wyoming, and Canada would talk to this supposed "Larry". His pleas were reported to the police, but there was no trace of him nor his father. The calls would stop 5 days later. It's believed that some of these "Larry's and one David" were hoaxes and possible the original was too.

If this was true and Larry and his father were trapped in a truck it's likely they were never found. There were no reports of a missing father and son and no reports of the accident. There were search helicopters out and one "David" talked to a rescue worker who said the boy claimed to see him airplane searchlights that had flown over the Manzano Mountains, south of Albuquerque.
