On March 5, 1976, 52-year-old Thomas Armstrong Jr. was working at his liquor store the Elm Street Liquor Store in Covington, Georgia. He was killed during a robbery at the store.

It's suspected that the same people who robbed a different liquor store in Rockdale County may be involved in this murder. At this robbery, one perp went into the store while the other stayed in the vehicle.
