Disappearance of Colleen Kay (Carpenter) Burgess

 On August 31, 1974, 25-year-old Colleen Burgess would leave her work in Englewood, Colorado. She would not be seen afterward. She had left in her green 1967 Chevrolet Nova. Around a week later her family received a letter believed to be from her stating she had a terminal illness and didn't want them to watch her suffer. After this, there was no contact. 

Colleen is a white female and was 25 years old at the time. She is 5'6" to 5'7" and 130 to 135 lbs. She has Red Auburn hair and hazel eyes.

Murder of Ronald Fetherson

At 8:38 pm on August 30, 2009, 911 was called to the apartment of 53-year-old Ronald Fetherson in Apartment 56-G at 1207 Truman Street in Durham, North Carolina. Inside Ronald was found in his living room stabbed to death and his body mutilated. 

Neighbors stated that Ronald was last seen around 8 pm the night before. His dog was also barking the whole night. It was initially believed that he had lived alone, but people told them that he had a roommate that he may have recently fought with recently.

A witness came forward and told law enforcement of an execution-style murder of an 18-year-old Hispanic male on Butte Falls Highway in Jackson County, Oregon. The body was not found and the victim was not identified. There is little information and it is unclear what the date of the murder was. It's possible that it happened in 1992 since the case number is Case #92-13183.

Rene Ramirez is wanted for his alleged involvement in the possession and receipt of child pornography. It's Alleged that between June of 2007 through December of 2009, he was involved in the trafficking of child pornography, via computers, in the New York City area. A federal arrest warrant was issued for Ramirez in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, on March 7, 2011, after he was charged with possession and receipt of child pornography.

Rene Ramirez is known to wear eyeglasses. He speaks both English and Spanish. He has ties to The Bronx, New York, and Mexico. Ramirez is skilled in the use of computers and may frequent social networking sites.

Murder of Virgilio Aguilera

At approximately 7:17 p.m. on August 23, 2020, unknown persons did a drive-by shooting on 5314 Brandenberry Drive in Columbus, Ohio. At the time 52-year-old Virgilio Aguilera was in the area and struck by one of the rounds. He would be brought to the hospital but passed away two hours later. 

It's not stated if Virgilio was the target.

Arlington Park Serial Pooper

By August 2016  a serial pooper would leave gifts at Ft. Barnard Park playground in Arlington, Virginia at least 4 to 5 times that year. Two of which happened in August. They poop around the play equipment and sometimes cover them with t-shirts so that curious kids or adults would end up picking them up and finding their surprise.  

The serial pooper does it at night. Their poop is left around the play equipment. It's never in off-to-the-side places like bushes or by trees. 

Arlington County Police said they are stepping up patrols at the time in the park in the hopes. They were hoping in catching the serial pooper and charging them with misdemeanor urinating and defecating in public. However, no one was caught as the serial pooper.

Murder of Roy Franklin Wishon

At 5:03 pm on August 21,1976, Someone called a police officer to the area of 200 Burtner St in Greensboro, North Carolina about the smell of decomposition in a wooded area. This was when the body of Roy Wishon was found. He had been beaten to death. He had been for 4 to 5 days as his body was seen there around that time but was mistaken as someone sleeping.

Disappearance of Eric Sermon

On August 20, 1996, 16-year-old Eric Sermon went to a park with two friends in Chino, California. They would leave the park, but Eric would not return home. There is little information in this case.

Murder of Heaven LaShae "Shae" Ross

On the morning of August 19, 2003, 11-year-old Heaven "Shae" Ross left her home in Northport, Alabama to her bus stop a few minutes after her sister. A few minutes after that thunder was heard and their step-father being concerned for the girls decided to pick them up at the bus stop and take them to school instead. However Heaven's sister was there, but Heaven never arrived. Someone had abducted her in the few minutes after she left her home.

On December 19, 2006, a man would be looking for cans at an abandoned home off Crescent Ridge Rd in Holt. He would find her body underneath the house. The house was a known place for people to use drugs and do illegal activities. It is a hard-to-find place and would have been hard to stumble upon.

On August 17, 1983, 72-year-old Steven Muchok was last leaving his home in West Islip, New York in a brown 1976 Lincoln Continental. The vehicle was later found. There is little info about this case.

The song was around 1 minute and 59 seconds long and was a free download. However, this is now lost due to Myspace deleting  15 million songs. It is possible that this song may be sitting somewhere waiting to be rediscovered.

On August 15, 1976, the body of a man was found at the bottom of an embankment off Rock Quarry Road in Columbia, Missouri. The remains were badly decomposed with some mummification it was believed he died between 1975 to 1976.

Disappearance of Sharon Maxwell

On August 15, 1976, 19-year-old Sharon Maxwell was last seen with two other individuals on the 2000 block of W. 22nd Place, in Chicago Illinois. She left the residence and never returned. There is little information in this case.

Murder of Amos Brown, Jr

On August 13, 2010, Amos Brown, Jr. was in a car on Lexington Avenue near El Coqui Grocery in Norwalk, Connecticut. He would be shot in the back of the head. Three young men would be seen fleeing in a silver or gray Chevrolet Malibu. Amos would pass away at the hospital 2 years later. 

Three men seen fleeing the scene were black males in their teens or early 20s. 

Some believe that his death was retaliation for the self-defense death of Tykwan Hunt. Tykwan was a member of a local gang called the Money Greens.

Murder of Chester L. Carruthers

 

On August 13, 1976, 15-year-old Chester Carruthers' mother reported her son missing in Harrison, Maine. She had not seen him for around 2 weeks when she reported him missing. 

On May 13, 1981, a dog would be found carrying a skull a quarter of a mile from Chester's home. Chester's remains would be found buried in a wooded area behind a home off of Route 35. It was found that he had been shot in the head.

 On August 12, 1982, 33-year-old Edward "EJ" "Eddie" Felps was last seen in New Caney, Texas. There is little information in this case.

Disappearance of Tilwanda "Tiwana" Denise Cheatham

On August 11, 1989, 8-year-old Tilwanda Cheatham was angry with her mother because she made her come home while visiting her relatives. Tilwanda would take change from a jar in their kitchen. She then left her home on Jack Jones St. in Aiken, South Carolina. At 5:30 pm she was seen by two neighbors at the Quik Stop a few blocks from her home. However, this was the last time she was seen.

It's unknown what had happened to Tilwanda, but her Grandmother was suspected of knowing. She was arrested and charged with obstructing justice in the case. Police stated that her grandmother had lied to police many times as if trying to cover up what had happened. However, she is not suspected of causing the disappearance. It is possible that Tilwanda was living with relatives, but there were no leads in that theory. She also had a habit of running away from home. She may have been kidnapped.

Some sources have her name as Tiwana.

Tilwanda is a black female and was 8 years old at the time. She was 4'1" and 70 lbs at the time. She has black hair and brown eyes. At the time her hair was in braids. She has a dark patch of skin on either her left arm or left leg. At the time she was wearing a white top, red flower shorts, and white tennis shoes.

Murder of Jennifer Larsen

On the night of August 9, 1995, 21-year-old Jennifer Larsen went to a friend's party at their home in Aurora, Colorado. Around 3 am to 4 am, her friend and a man would leave the home. This was the last time anyone saw her alive. Her father would report her missing on the 13th. A week later her car was located at an apartment complex about one mile from her friend's home by the same two people who saw her last. 

It wasn't for a couple of months that a farmer would find a skeleton in a sunflower field in Strasburg. It was identified as Jennifer. She was found lying in her back and it was determine to have been a homicide.

Murder of Kirsty Jones

In 2020 23-year-old Kristy Jones was a Welsh citizen who loved back packing. She had done it before and planned to do it again. She would go to several Asian countries on vacation. She had already been to Singapore and Malaysia before she went to Thailand in early August. She would check into a hostel room in Chiang Mai, Thailand. On her trip she went trekking in the mountains, sightseeing, and met people. This would be the second time she would backpack in Thailand. 

On August 10, 2000, Kristy would be murdered in her hostel room. She had been sexually assaulted and strangled to death.

Thailand has a 20-year statute of limitations on murder. So on August 10, 2020, the case was officially closed. In this case, no one can be prosecuted even if the murderer was found. There were several suspects in this case, but no evidence that could convict any of them.

The Popobawa

The Popobawa (translates to bat-wing) is a legendary creature from the Tanzanian island of Pemba. It is known for its nocturnal assaults on people and is especially fierce towards those skeptical of its existence. The Popobawa is described as a shapeshifter with one of its forms being a bat-like figure. It has been the catalyst for mass hysteria several times in Tanzania. 1995 was particularly spread from Pemba to Unguja, Zanzibar Archipelago. Again there was brief hysteria in both 2000 and 2007. 

During the day Popobawa looks like an ordinary human, but when night falls he acquires a different form. He has a hunched human-like form with grey skin, long, pointed ears, a wide smile with fangs, a single eye in the middle of the forehead, and wings so big that they can wrap around him like a cape. It's described as being able to change form, sometimes being able to blend into darkness. It also emits a smell of sulfur. 

The Popobawa's single eye possesses a paralyzing effect on anyone who looks into it. It uses this ability to instill fear into the hearts of victims. The Popobawa then will gain access to the home instigating a lasting sense of dread. It would also attack anyone in the home including children. The attacks include physical and sexual assault or a poltergeist-like phenomenon. 

Because the Popobawa was known for repeat visits people could protect themselves from Popobawa by staying awake throughout the night outdoors, usually around fires with other people.

Murder of Eileen Virginia Standley

At 5:10 pm on August 6, 1978, 53-year-old Eileen Standley's boyfriend came to her apartment at 415 W. Haskell Place #B Osage Hills Apartments in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Inside he found Eileen dead in her bathroom.  She was partially nude and her throat was slit. The crime may have been sexually motivated. There were signs of forced entry into the apartment, but there were no signs of a struggle inside.

Death of Eveline Downing

 On August 2, 1924, 31-year-old Eveline Downing with her mother spoke to Dr. Lade about her pregnancy. Her mother spoke, but Eveline denied it and wasn't happy about it. He then sent her to Lambeth Hospital for general peritonitis. The two did not mention any help with abortions or such to the doctor. This was also the first time he had seen her and the last one she saw him was 2 years prior. He would sign papers for her as she was a war widow. 

On August 6, 1924, Eveline died from an illegal abortion. She would die in Lambeth Hospital in London, England. She had likely gotten the abortion because war widows would lose their pension if they gave birth. The person who had performed this surgery was skilled and was likely in the medical field. It's possible that the person who did the operation was trying to help her out but unfortunately resulted in her death. This person was never discovered, or at least in this case.

Disappearance of Marleni Salazar

On August 5, 2004, 16-year-old Marleni Salazar was last seen in Cutchogue, New York. There is little information in this case. 

Marleni is a White female and was 16 years old at the time. At the time she was 5'0" and 115 lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Murder of Lisa Taodora Kopf (Monika Wiley)

On the night of August 4, 1998, 17-year-old Lisa Kopf and her 15-year-old sister left their home in Callingwood neighborhood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The two would go to a house party near 102 Street and 132 Avenue. At 4:30 am Lisa would leave the party on her own. It's not stated or unknown why she left the party alone.

At 10 am a farmer feeding his cattle discovered Lisa’s body in a slough near 186 Street and 118 Avenue. She was lying face down in the mud in a slough. Her death was brutal as her face was held down into the mud until she suffocated to death. She had no drugs or alcohol in her system. She was not sexually assaulted and they may not have been the motive.

One od the early news article stated that there was a call to police around 5:20 am about a suspicious person near an abandoned building a few hundred meters away from where Lisa was found. It's not stated if this person was found or if they suspect that this person saw or knows anything about the murder.

It was stated that she was also using the name Monika Wiley.

Disappearance of Lisa Farmer

On July 31, 1983 18-year-old Lisa Farmer, Her Husband and their one-year-old moved into their new home in Lawton, Oklahoma. On August 2, 1983, Lisa's husband would leave for a military training exercise. This was the first night here they spent without him. At 8:30 pm that night Lisa would be last seen by her neighbor in her kitchen.

The next morning the baby could be heard screaming. They would check up on the baby to find him alone in the home. The baby was hungry and was wearing a soiled diaper. Lisa was nowhere in sight. The back door was unlocked and a window in the dining room was open. All of her belongings were still in the home and the only piece of clothing missing was a flower print nightgown she was likely wearing. There was no indications of a struggle, however.

Lisa grew up in Union, South Carolina. Her maiden name was Watkins.

Lisa is a biracial female White and Native American. She is 5'6" and 115 lbs. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a scar on her hip, tongue, right ankle/instep, and under the toes on her left foot. She may wear eyeglasses and was wearing a gold chain, a floating heart necklace, and a gold wedding band with a diamond solitaire and may have been wearing a flower-patterned nightgown.

August 1, 2009, Clermont, Florida John Doe

On August 1, 2009,  several small bone fragments and teeth were found in a wooded area several feet from the main road in Clermont, Florida. It's believed that John Doe had been dead for years as the bones showed extensive weathering. He had died between 1900 and 2009. There were men's underwear and a blanket found near the bones, but it's unknown if they have anything to do with the remains. 

John Doe is a black male between 21 to 35 years old. He was 5'4".
