On August 8, 1996, 42-year-old David Gilbert was stabbed in a busy park on the south side of Billings, Montana. People didn't take notice or help until David's dog began to bark. There were witnesses, but many were hesitant to talk. The area David's body was found was littered with alcohol bottles and cans which it was illegal at the time to drink in the park without a license. It isn't stated if they thought the victim was drinking at the park or if he was just murdered in that area.
There was a Native American Man seen leaving the area in a large white four-door vehicle.
