Around 5 a.m. on 9 Jan. 1982 76-year-old Dora Pratt was found lying on the ground in her home on Bulstrode Road in Ipswich, England. She had been beaten about the head and rendered unconscious, her injuries would later cause her death on 6 July.
Her home and the shop she ran were adjoined. It was believed that the motive was robbery as several things were found to be missing and the shop till was empty. On the night of the attack, it was cold and several inches of snow fell. It's believed that the intruder came in from the back door and hit Dora about the head three times with a sharp object. The killer would then rob the place and take the murder weapon with them
All but one customer in the shop had been found and eliminated as suspects. The one man who wasn't was a man wearing steel-rimmed glasses he was never interviewed and never came forward.
