On March 3, 1997, a woman returned to her home at the 11028 block of North 111th Place in Scottsdale, Arizona. She had been away for several days. Around 9:20 She would look out to her backyard. She would see a pair of legs sticking out of some bushes. She flipped the light on thinking it was a kid just playing around, but when the legs did not move she called the police.
In the bushes was the body of 32-year-old Darryll "Nikko" Raye. He had been shot in the head killing him. It's possible that the reason he was in her backyard was that he was searching for help after he was shot. There was blood evidence showing he was shot on the street to where his body was found.
