Murder of John Labbe

On September 8, 2011, a friend of 54-year-old John Labbe came over to his home on Texas Hill Rd. in Plymouth, New Hampshire. His friend would find John's body in a shed. He had been shot multiple times and may have been dead for a couple of days.

In May of 2010, John was well known in New Hampshire for filing a civil suit in Hillsborough Superior Court name the Archidiocese of Manches and Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate as defendants. He alleged that he had been sexually abused multiple times in a four-year period in the 1960s. He was serving as a young altar boy at St. Brendan's Catholic Church and claimed that Rv. George St. Jean (deceased since 1982) was the perpetrator. The church may have known of the abuse and still gave the Reverand jobs dealing with children.

He was known as a soft-spoken and courageous man. He was one of the first men in New Hampshire to talk about sexual abuse against a priest. It's not known if the lawsuit had anything to do with his death. No motive could be found.
