December 29, 1923 London, England Jane Doe
On December 29, 1923, a woman's body was found in the Chelsea Basin area in the Thames River in England. It was not stated what they thought the cause of death was or if they thought it was foul play. It was not known who she was and police took her fingerprints in hopes of helping identify her with them. This was a first, but however never gave fruit to her identity.
She would be misidentified by a man who had not seen his wife for 2 years. By the end of the month, a family member would tell him that they actually spoke to her recently and could not be Jane Doe.
It was found that the woman had the habit of staying at a common lodging house in Walham Green. The manager of the house however did not know the woman's name.
She was a woman around 45 to 50-years-old. She was well dressed and had a bag with when she was found. Inside the bag was a handkerchief with an M on it, a photo of a man cut out from a larger photo, She had two £1 notes, eight 10s. notes, and 4s in silver and copper.

Leanne the Leanderthal Lady
Around 10,000 to 13,000 years ago near a small stream, Leanne was laid to rest in a shallow grave. The person who dug her grave in an oval shape in hard compacted soil perhaps using a sharp stick. Leanne would be laid on her side in a fetal position with her knees drawn up, arms crossed, and the right hand beneath her head. Next to her side was a heavily worn sandstone tool, a hand stone or mano, that was used for grinding food and chopping. A fossiled shark tooth was found in the neck area and it's possible it was worn as a necklace. They would then place a limestone slab over the burial. They may have done it to secure a hide around the body or mark the grave.

The Wooden Man
The Egeskov Castle in Kværndrup, Denmark is home to the Wooden Man. He sleeps peacefully under the tower spire upon his pillow. Legend says the Wooden Man must stay or the house itself will suffer. It says that if he moves from his place the castle will sink into its moat on Christmas Night. Several owners believed the legend. They would spend Christmas away, but the current owners celebrate it and even leave a bowl of rice pudding for the Wooden Man. The Wooden Man is a doll the size of a child.
Countess Nonni loaned the Wooden Man out to the National Museum of Demark. He was weighed, measured, and photographed. The loan agreement was only for 6 months but after 14 days Countess Nani asked for it back. The castle creaked and groaned and the walls began to shake and once he restored to his pillow the castle became peaceful.

Murder of Paul Logan
He would go back to his vehicle and would be ambushed likely by more than one person. He would be dragged and beaten about 50 yards away. When the people in the Blue House Farm noticed around 2 am that the white Peugeot car that Paul was driving was still there they investigated it. They would look around for him and find him dead.
It was obvious that whoever had made the call decided to attack and kill Paul that night. The hoax call was made from a phone box at the junction of Snows Green Rd and Benfieldside Rd in Shotley Bridge. It was likely the same people that vandalized his car three times in the weeks leading up to the attack. In one case of vandalism "No Legs" was scratched into the roof. After his death, his tombstone was also damaged.
It's unknown or unstated what Paul had done for someone or a group of people to hold such a grudge.

Suspicious Death of Elsie Payne
On December 7, 1923, 12-year-old Elsie Payne was out on an errand in Cardiff, Wales by one of her neighbors. Elsie was walking with a friend, 14-year-old Susie Phillips, but the two separated and Elsie proceeded down Iron St. Soon after at 8:40 pm Elsie would enter her aunt and uncle's shop on Clifton St.
She was bleeding from the throat and said "A man asked me where Clifton Street was" before collapsing. By the time she was at the hospital she had lost too much blood and even though family members wanted to donate it was too late and she died before they could.
There was a blood trail that led 103 years down the street across from some railings on the other side of the road in Iron St. off Clifton. Susie stated that she did not see anyone following them, and didn't notice anything when she left Elsie.
It was stated that her injury likely was caused by a knife or piece of glass, but it was also possible that it was caused by falling on the railings or onto broken glass. The wound was up and forward. Another girl was injured similarly by slipping and landing on the railings on her chest. In several articles, it states there was no evidence of what had happened to her.
It was believed however that she had been murdered as her last words mentioned of a man looking for directions. There seemed to be no evidence at the scene of the accident.Wednesday, December 6, 2023

November 24, 1910 South Fork Township, Iowa John Doe
He was shot with a .22 caliber bullet in the right temple. At first it was believed it was suicide, because he was not robbed but it other evidence proved otherwise. He had been dragged and hidden where his body was found and no weapon was found.
The man was sturdily dressed with several items on himself including an Elgin watch. The man's description and his items were put out into the newspaper and a possible lead came. a Ms. Gearheart of nearby Hopkinton came forward stating she had given the man the prayerbook he had.
He had stopped at her home on Labor Day which was September 5th and the same day as the Woodman World annual picnic in Hopkinton. The man was wearing the clothes he was found in and would ask for something to eat and she gave him food. They spoke while he was there. She either did not remember his name or did not give it. She did remember him telling her that he was walking to Dubuque to visit a nephew and was married, but did not have children. Before he left she gave him the prayer book.'
This lead however did not lead to his identification nor his murderer.
John Doe was wearing a soft brown felt hat, a black and gray striped suit of durable material, and good shoes. He had $15, a large jack knife, an empty notebook, a prayer book, an Elgin pocket watch case numbered 138033 and a movement numbered 1024613, two medals with one marked "Whitcomb", several handkerchiefs, and a watch chain charm.
