August 14 1977 Snohomish Jane Doe *Identified as Lisa Roberts*

In June of 2020 Snohomish Jane Doe has been identified as 17-year-old Lisa Roberts. At the time Lisa was reported as a runaway from Rosenburg, Oregon by her father who reported it on July 25, 1977. A few weeks later Lisa would call her parents and ask for money. When they asked her to come home she told them she would think about it. They sent to the to a bank in Everett, Washington for her, but she never came to pick it up.

On August 14, 1977, Blackberry pickers found the body of a 15-year-old to 21-year-old woman 1.5 blocks away from Emander Road on 113th Street near Plainfield Washington. She had tragically died five days before. The girl was strangled and then shot in the face seven times. Her face was unrecognizable as the heat from the hot August sun and the destruction had made it hard.

A Police informant informed the police that David Roth had admitted to picking up a hitchhiker and murdering her after she refused to have sex with him. He was convicted in 1979 of her murder with his .22-caliber rifle matching the bullets.

Jane Doe was walking south along Bothell-Everett Highway. It was claimed that the beach here was a good place to find people willing to share alcohol and joints. Roth who was 20 at the time spotted the girl. She got into his car and they headed towards Midland Grocery on Fourth Avenue for beer. After they picked up the six-pack the two headed to a secluded place near Mariner High School in the woods.

Here is where Roth and Jane Doe smoked a cigarette and drank some beer. He then offered her some marijuana, but the girl declined the offer. Roth then made sexual advances to the girl. She was obviously uncomfortable and refused him. She then stated that she was anxious and wanted to go home. Roth was enraged by this. He murdered the girl and even picked up the bullet shells. This did not prevent him from being caught.

Sometime during their time together the girl admitted to Roth that she lived with two men. This sadly is the only thing that Roth knew about the girl. She was a total stranger, and he didn’t even catch her name because he never thought of asking for one.

In 2005 Roth was released from jail and helped the police anyway he could. It made Roth uncomfortable talking about the murder stating it wouldn’t help them ID the girl.

The girl was White and estimated to be between 15 to 21 but is more than likely due to later tests to be between 16 and 19 years old. She was around 5 foot 10 and weighed around 155 lbs. Her hair was short and light brown. There was no evidence of it being dyed. She appeared to have a suntan and there were no noted unusual scars or tattoos. Jane Does teeth seemed to be in good condition. Her two front teeth though have had dental restorations.

She was wearing a tank top with pastel stripes, cutoff jeans and wore blue and white MR. SNEEKER tennis shoes in a men's size 7. She also had a Timex watch with a leather band and had a metal yellow face on her left wrist.

This Jane doe does have both DNA and Dentals on file.
