Disappearance of Merlene Hayes

On April 26, 1994, around 7:30 p.m. 55-year-old Merlene Hayes left her home on Pepper Drive in Tallahassee, Flordia. She told her daughter, Angela Harris, that she wanted to go for a walk for a second time that day. Her daughter told her not to go out because it was late, but she went anyway. She would be spotted locally in the days and weeks after her disappearance.

She wouldn't be reported missing for six days, because Merlene disappeared once before and was found in Marianna three days later. It was uncharacteristic for Merlene to not talk to family for this long.

Merlene is An African American woman and was 55-years-old at the time. She's 5'7" and 170lbs. She has short greying hair and brown eyes. She has a mole on the bridge of her nose. She often wears wigs and was wearing one at the time of her disappearance. Marlene has depression and was taking medication for it at the time. If she doesn't take her medication regularly she might become disoriented and may not know her identity.

At the time she was wearing a purple-flowered shirt, pants, and a pair of Nike's.
