Murder of Joseph Lopez

On April 28, 2008, 17-year-old Joseph Lopez attended school at Spring Valley High School. He would go home and told them he would be home soon, but less than two hours later his body would be found. He was found in a storm drain under Tropicana Avenue west of I-215 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He had been shot to death between 5:09 and 6 p.m.

One article states that Joseph had attended a behavioral program for students. Months before his death he had transferred from Durango High School to Spring Valley High School. It's speculated that he may have gone to fight someone as he was wearing sports gloves at the time of death.

Joseph's mothers were divorced at the time, but both they and their partners were very much in Joseph's life at the time. He was described as being well-liked and liked spending time with his family.
