On the night of June 8, 1976, 36-year-old Freddie Thomas Brewer was playing a second base at a softball game in Wayside Park in Bakersfield, California. An unknown man was seen with Freddie around 10:20 p.m. The man was sitting in the passenger seat with Freddie. Around 10:30 to 10:40 the man was seen running from the vehicle.
A little after midnight a police officer discovered Freddie in his car. He had been shot several times to the head. It's believed he had died between 10:15 pm to 10:45 pm.
There isn't any mention of the man on the Bakersfield website, so it is unknown if the man who was last seen with Freddie was identified. He was described as a man in their early 20's. He was around 5'9" and 155 lbs. He was cleanly shaven with shoulder-length hair.
