On July 18, 1979, the body of 19-year-old Linda Susan Rhein was found by a jogger in a ditch near the intersection of Madison St. and 87th St. in unincorporated Burr Ridge, Illinois. She had been dead for 24 to 48 hours and was possibly last seen around 10 a.m. on July 16. Her purse and personal effects weren't found near her.
She was stabbed deeply 8 times. She was stabbed both in the front in the back from trying to get away. It's believed she was killed where she was found. A newspaper article states it's possible she was stabbed after jumping from a vehicle as there seemed to be blood on the grass near the body.
