Murder of Mary Amelia Allen

On July 24, 1975, the boss of 73-year-old Marry Allen was worried about her. She had not come into work and it was unlike her. She was able to contact Mary's son to tell him she never arrived at work and they were worried.

Her daughter-in-law went to Mary's home around 4p.m. at 301 Governor Printz Boulevard in Claymont, Deleware to check on her. She discovered Mary in her bedroom stabbed to death. Her daughter-in-law ran to the neighbors to get help.

The killer or killers entered the unlocked back door between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. A neighbor had a conversation with her and

She was initially attacked in the bathroom while she was getting dressed. She was then dragged to the front bedroom where she was stabbed multiple times. There was no sexual assault and no signs of robbery.

Mary lived in the home by herself. She often woke up early and would tend to her garden. She would often have her back door unlocked or ajar when she was home. She didn't seem to have been worried about anything other than wondering if she'd have to move her roses back for the plans to widen the street.
