Disappearance of Hattie Jackson

On July 21, 1961, 6-year-old Hattie Jackson and her older brother and some friends went to Rock Creek Park in Washington D.C. They were swimming in the creek when a police officer told them not to because it was polluted. An unknown man offered the children a ride to a place 2 miles away that was not polluted.

They declined his offer and went off to play. Hattie went missing and no one immediately noticed it. Witnesses reported that they saw two young men helping Hattie into a dull blue/grey older model Chrysler, possibly a Plymouth with yellow license plates. Search dogs lead police to that area.

The driver of the car matched the description of the unknown man from earlier. He was a white male between 30 and 40-years-old. He had a deep tan and brown dark hair brushed straight back. He wore a white shirt, grey trousers, a black belt, and sunglasses. He was described as around 5'9" and with a muscular build.

Hattie is an African American girl and was 6-years-old at the time. She was 3'0" and 45lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a white long-sleeved blouse, brown and white checkered shorts, pink sandals and a blue hair ribbons.
