Murder of Marsha Helgeson

On the night of September 9, 1978, 21-year-old Marsha Helgeson was seen at the 17 Bar in downtown Billings, Montana with an unknown woman. She was seen leaving the bar around 1 a.m. the next morning with two men. She was last seen at Sambo's on 24th St. between 1:15 a.m. to 2 a.m. with an unknown woman. She had left her car at 17 Bar.

Around 4 a.m. two boys leaving to go hunting that morning saw a woman matching Marsha's description arguing with a man who was following her in a car on 24th St. It's unknown if this was Marsha.

She was found later that morning nude in a driveway off Alkali Creek Road. She had been hit about the head, her clothes torn off and she had been stabbed to death. It was believed she was forced to be where she was found and was forced or pulled from a vehicle.

Two men were vaguely described. One man was in his early 20's and 6 ft tall, slender with stringy brown hair cut short and was wearing a western style shirt and boots. The other man was about 25 years old, about 5'9" muscular build, with high cheekbones, and straight brown hair, and was wearing a western style shirt with boots.
