Murder of Rene Freer

On Wednesday June 22, 1977 eight year old Rene Freer left her home on Williams drive in Monroe, Connecticut around 6 p.m. after dinner. She planned on going to play with a friend who lived up the street. When she didn’t return when it got dark her mother began to worry and searched for the girl. She could not be found so the family and neighbors and reported her missing around 9:15 to help in the search of the 8 year old.

Around 10:12 p.m. two firefighters found the body of the girl in the nearby woods 300 feet away from her home. She had died from two crushing blows to the head. This was what caused her death. When she was found her blouse was slightly torn. In 1999 DNA evidence was analyzed   
$50,000 has been offered for any tips leading to an arrest in this case.
