Murder of Tammy Jo Alexander.

In 1979 15 year old Tammy Jo Alexander took off from her home. Her home life was described as dysfunctional and she had a history of taking off. This time she never returned to her home in Brookesville, Florida.

When Tammy was 15 her and her friend hitchhiked to California. Where the two called their parents and her friends parents paid for the two of them to fly back home. It was noted that Tammy's own parents did not seem to care.

It believed that sometime in the first half of 1979 15 year old Tammy decided to runaway again. This time she did this on her own or with an unknown male she was last with.

On November 10, 1979 a farmer in Caledonia, New York saw a red cloth in one of his corn fields near Genesse River and 30 feet from Route 20.

She was fully clothed and had no signs of sexual assault. It seems that the attack was sudden as most people flinch or turn when being shot in the head and there was no sign she had done this. There was also a gunshot wound to her back.  Her pockets were turned inside out as killer removed things from her pockets.

She had been seen eating with a young man at a diner. It's believed he may have been the one who had killed Tammy. he may have picked her up hitchiking or had left with her. It isn't known if Tammy had hitch hiked all the way to New York or not.

She had just turned 16  on November 2.

But no one had known this. She was unidentified for many years sporting the name Caledonia or Cali Doe. Her sister believed that Tammy had runaway and started a new life. That she escaped their troubled home and had a family of her own. She believed this for 35 years.

In 2014 a former classmate got in contact with Tammy's sister. The two soon found out she wasn't reported missing and filed a report. On January 25,2015 she was identified.  For 35 years she was left unidentified bearing the name "Cali Doe". Her family had gotten a lot of scrutiny from the public. But because Tammy Jo was a chronic runaway the police did not take the families report.
