On May 22, 1982, around 8:20 p.m. 43-year-old Fou Saechao was stocking shelves in a market on 5020 N. Interstate Ave. He was then confronted by a black male. Words were exchanged and the man shot him and fled the market. Fou died from the multiple gunshot wounds inflicted.
It wasn't till May 25 that the next two shootings happened.
Around 1:30 a.m. someone found 31-year-old Anthony Lesina lying on the ground near a phone booth at 1925 N. Interstate Ave. A witness saw a black male leave in a maroon car that was Anthony's. He had died from a single gunshot wound. His car was later recovered, but details about the recovery are unreleased.
Later that same day around 8:45 p.m. 25-year-old Kevin Waldner was in his residence at 4805 N. Borthwick. He was doing dishes and then noticed an African American man in his dining room. He asked if he needed help. The man responded no. The man then turned towards the front door and Kevin stepped closer. It was noticed the intruder was carrying what looked like a sawed-off rifle. The gun was then pointed at him and they wrestled with it. When Kevin let go of the gun the suspect stepped back and shot. The suspect fled, and Kevin survived the gunshot wound to his stomach.
