2007 Murder of Christopher Bartholomew

Christopher Bartholomew who went by Chris was studying at Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods in the hopes of being a police officer. Early morning on May 20, 2007 the 21 year old and his friend were on foot on 39th and Broadway near the Westport entertainment district in Kansas City. A shoot out happened between two rival gangs. Chris had lost his life when he tried pulling someone to safety. Three other people were injured, but Chris was the only fatality.

His mother and her best friend hold a softball tournament every year in the name of Chris. Chris loved to play softball. They wanted to do something he loved and help earn money for North Kansas City and Liberty students that want to get into law enforcement.

There is currently a $30,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Anyone with information that can help solve this case is asked to call the Cold Case Squad at 816-234-5136.
