The Disappearance of Harvey Eugene Whitacre

20-year-old Harvey Eugene Whitacre or better known as Gene was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and treasurer of his bowling league. On the night of June 30, 1947, he was last seen in the bowling ally in Albuquerque, New Mexico carrying $400 for his bowling league. He did not show up to roll call at Sandia Base the next day and it worried people. His broken glasses, necktie, army cap, and a blood-stained shirt with slashes on the back were found in a side street near the bowling ally. Some believe that this was staged.

The FBI and Defense Department really looked into the case trying to find Gene thinking he went AWOL. They spent a lot of time asking friends and family about Gene's whereabouts. They even resorted to wiretapping phones and intercepting mail to try to find Gene. Even though they claim Gene had no information that would deny national security. But it's possible he did with his job on base and that was why they were trying so hard to find him.

Gene was a white male who was described as a kind of Asian looking in some reports. He was 5'9 and around 145 lbs. He had brown hair cut in a military-style and brown eyes. He also has bad eyesight and wears very strong subscription glasses.

DNA and Fingerprints are available, but Dentals are not.
