Vernon Ray Henry killed her wife Connie, 42, and oldest daughter Heather, 17, on August 11, 1996 in their home in Athol, Idaho. His three other children ages 12, 7, and 5 were in thee house at the time of the murder. Their oldest son had already moved out of the house by this time.
On this Monday night the 12 year old son woke up to arguing around 12:45 a.m. between his father, mother and older sister. He wasn't sure what the argument was about, but Vernon got so angry that he brought out his gun and shot Heather and Connie. The boy got out of bed to find his mother and sister laying dead on the floor and watched his dad fleeing the scene, driving north on Highway 95 in a maroon 1986 Toyota Camry 4-door car with license plate K22671. His son then called 911. The 7 year old did wake up, but the 5 year old did not until they were halfway out of the house.
No one expected this to have happened. Vernon seemed like such a nice guy to many people. He was even described to have been in a good mood talking about good fishing holes. In reality though police believe that the crime might have been premeditated, and may have stashed supplies in the woods and hid out there. He was described as the anti-government and survivalist type.
He is wanted on warrants for 2 counts of 1st Degree Murder and use of a firearm in commission of felony. and He has ties to Nebraska and Alaska, but may had even fled as far as Belize
At the time of his disappearance he was 5'10 and weighed around 145 lbs. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was 44 at the time of the murder, but as of 2017 he would be 65 years old.
