October 9, 2001 Simpson County, Kentucky Jane Doe



On October 9, 2001, a survey crew found the partially skeletonized remains were found on the shoulder of the northbound lane near the 12-mile marker in Simpson County, Kentucky along Interstate 65 and just North of the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.  Her body was found laying on her back in an embankment. The cause of death was not found, but it's believed that she was murdered.

Jane Doe is a white female and 25 to 35 years-old. She was 5'4" to 5'9" and 90 to 130 lbs. She has reddish-brown hair or reddish-blonde hair. On her left breast was an outline from a rose tattoo. She had poor dental health. She may have had previous pregnancies and may have been pregnant at the time of death. She has had a healed fracture of her upper right arm near her shoulder, a healed broken rib, a scar on her face and right wrist.

An isotope test was done on her. It suggested that she spent a significant amount of time in the Great Lakes or New England region and During her final months she may have spent time in the mid-west or mid-Atlantic regions.

She was wearing a white or tan shirt, blue cotton shorts, and sandals. near the body was two rings one of them a gold band ring similar to a wedding rings and the other was sterling silver with painted enamel with flowers and leaves. It was made by the Vargas Manufacturing Company in Rhode Island and was made in the 50's and 60's but no later than the 70's.
