Murder of Brittany Lynn Locklear

On the morning of Jan7, 1998 5-year-old Brittany Lynn Locklear's mother walked her out to her bus stop outside her home on Grainey Road in Hoke, North Carolina. She was waiting for the bus her mother typically waited with her but had to use the restroom.

When her mother looked out the window a few minutes and didn't see her, she thought the bus had picked her up. That was until a neighbor knocked on her door in a panic believeing the girl had been kidnapped. They were about 200 yards away from when they saw someone in a truck take the girl

They went to the school and confirmed she never arrived. The police were automatically called when she found out. A manhunt had ensued. Her clothes and bookbag were found. The next day her body was found in a drainage ditch a few miles away from her home. She was sexually assaulted and drowned and left in the drainage ditch.

The Vehicle the suspect was driving was a full-size-pick-up truck of an unknown color. One source states it was possibly brown.
There is a $20,000 REWARD for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Brittany's murder.
