Murder of Helen Mary Dahl

save image

79-year-old Helen Mary Dahl's daughter had been trying to get her to move out of her apartment at 1012 East 26th Street in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She had been mugged in the past and her daughter was concerned for her safety. Helen didn't want to move due to having pets and didn't want to get rid of them if she had left. She had also lived there for the last 8 years and she was used to living there.

On Feb. 11, 1994, her body was found in a room off from the laundry room. A neighbor had heard her dog barking and went to check out the seldom-used room off from the laundry room. There was evidence that she was doing laundry when she was attacked as her clothes were found in the washer and a cup for laundry soap was found on the stairs. She was sexually assaulted and strangled to death.

There is up towards a $50,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest in this case.
