Disappearance of Gary Lynn Mullinax

21-year-old Gary Lyn Mullinax was last seen in Benton, Arkansas on May 9, 1976, visiting his parents. Gary was separated from his wife at the time and went to see his daughter. According to his sister, he told her he was going to meet someone and be back in an hour. He was never seen again. It was uncharacteristic for him to not keep in contact.

A few days later his green 1970 Javelin was found parked on the side street off of Asher Ave. in Little Rock. Inside were his belongings including his wallet and keys. The area he was found was near his brother-in-law's shop building.

Rumors about Gary were going around that he was a driver for a drug dealer. That his job included dropping drugs off, pick up the money, and deliver cash back to the dealer. It was said he was trying to get out of it for his daughter and became an informant working with the FBI.

His sister remembered a time where the FBI came to the house to collect a gun her husband had bought from Gary. It turned out the gun was stolen and the agent told her that Gary was working with them with some drug cases.

Another rumor indicated that it may have been possible Gary was a witness to a murder and was in Witness Protection.

His original missing person's report was lost.

Gary was a 21-year-old white male. He was 5'4" to 5'6" and around 140 to 160 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He had previously fractured his left hip in a fall out of a tree and fractured his jaw on both sides in a car accident. He possibly was sporting a full beard or mustache. What he was wearing was unknown, but was known to wear dressy clothes.
