Murder of Emma Brewer

On December 16, 1979, 62-year-old Emma Brewer didn't show up to the church. Her granddaughter came to check up on her the next day at her apartment on Western Avenue in Knoxville, Tennessee. Inside was the body of Emma Brewer she had her hands tied behind her back, and was strangled to death with a pair of stockings and extension cord.

Mitch Reed is a suspect in Emma's death. He worked for Emma as a handyman and lived with her not long before her death. He admitted that he was there the night she died and stood on her porch just to say hello.  There was not enough evidence to convict and has since died. He is also a suspect in the death of 6-year-old Avery "Peaches" Shorts
