He wasn't identified until April of 1976 through x-ray of his chest and freckles identified through a photo. Jeffery had gone missing three months earlier and was believed he had faked his death at the time as it was claimed he disappeared during a sailboat accident. This was possible as to avoid a narcotics possession charge. It was found that Jeffery had belonged to a drug organization. Other's who were a part of the organization refused to talk to law enforcement or were found to have been killed.
