Murder of Ivan Wheeler


On the morning of Feb. 18, 1977  around 5:15 a.m. a police officer on patrol inspected a U-Need-A-Cab taxi #457 in the parking lot of 1345 Cheapside St. in London, Ontario, Canada. Inside was the body of the taxi driver, 27-year-old Ivan Wheeler. He had been shot in the back of the head.

It's believed that Ivan left Thamesville at about 10 p.m. the night before and picked up a passenger along Highway 401 on his return to London. The meter read $6.01 and possibly the person who owed was the one who killed him.
